well made and a nice wood effect on fuselage, one of my favourite WW1 aeroplanes 🙂

Thanks, Choppa. I used Aqueous Hobby Color H37 Wood Brown with lines of light and red brown, a filter of H37 to smoothen these lines and a shadow of yellow on the panel lines for weathering. The wood grain was made with gouache brown paint and a wet cloth.

Very convincing. The D.III is my favorite of the era. So I m doublely glad to see your masterpiece.

Thanks, guys. The latticework on the wings has been rendered like soft ridges in the kit, so I used a technique explained in Villalba's airplane modeling techniques guide. You can see it on one of my pictures. With narrow strips of Tamiya tape the ribs are masked and then shadowed by the base color plus a few drops of dark paint. This creates some depth.

Album info

For a group build on the Great War I built this Albatros like one of the kit suggestions. It was a nice exercise on creating wood textures and rigging. The interior has as much detail as the outsides. I used the Kagero reference book for details about the rigging.
