![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/4/7/1/188471-10885-32-720.jpg)
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/4/7/2/188472-10885-15-720.jpg)
Quit a bit of work to lower the suspension. First replace the low plastic placeholders by longer metal ones, followed by adding 1,5 mm of plastic to lower the car.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/4/7/3/188473-10885-34-720.jpg)
Basically same procedure on the rear as on the front.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/4/7/4/188474-10885-56-720.jpg)
Added 1,5 mm of plastic to the front upright to coincide with the 1,5 mm on the suspension.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/4/7/5/188475-10885-71-720.jpg)
Front upright and suspension after lowering it. Also notice I had to scrape a bit of the front tyre (see green arrow), otherwise the dashboard would be pushed up (that's how tight it all is).
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/4/7/6/188476-10885-45-720.jpg)
Rear upright needed a litte bit more work as the original plastic pin wasn't long enough. It was replaced by a new, longer one.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/4/7/7/188477-10885-86-720.jpg)
Rear upright in place. Note the 1,5 mm of added plastic (green arrow), which will be rounded off later.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/7/8/188478-10885-91-720.jpg)
And this is what all the work was for: a decent stance on the F1! The green arrow indicates the huge gap using an unaltered suspension.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/7/9/188479-10885-65-720.jpg)
With the front (and rear) wheels 1,5 mm higher in the chassis, the wheelarches won't fit over the tyres anymore. So most of it was taken away allowing the tyre to move freely again.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/3/0/8/192308-10885-41-720.jpg)
Finished basic work on the chassis.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/3/0/9/192309-10885-83-720.jpg)
Finished basic work on the chassis.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/3/1/0/192310-10885-61-720.jpg)
Started construction of the PE brake discs. The difference with the original plastic ones are good to see here.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/3/1/1/192311-10885-66-720.jpg)
Opening the gaps on the rear deck.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/3/1/2/192312-10885-69-720.jpg)
And "filling" them up again with PE mesh. Looking a lot better now!
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/3/1/3/192313-10885-77-720.jpg)
Cut away a sizeable "lip" at the top of the front screen. This prevents the screen from fitting properly!
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/3/1/4/192314-10885-87-720.jpg)
Green arrow shows were the window is now flush with the body because of the removal of the plastic "lip" on the inside.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/3/1/5/192315-10885-24-720.jpg)
Rear deck with engine and exhaust "detail".... not much and completely wrong as this is the basic layout for the street version of the F1!
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/3/1/6/192316-10885-63-720.jpg)
After cutting away most of the rear I replaced it with some plasticard.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/3/1/7/192317-10885-44-720.jpg)
And the rear of the car stand-alone. Still a lot of work to do.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/3/1/8/192318-10885-11-720.jpg)
Glued the rear part of the body to the chassis instead of to the body itself. This will be very useful when construction the exhausts.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/3/1/9/192319-10885-20-720.jpg)
Adding shock absorbers. Found these in my left-over box, probably came from some rally car.
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/3/2/0/192320-10885-37-720.jpg)
Construction of the exhaust has started. Now to replicate it for the left-side 😉
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/2/4/5/193245-10885-38-720.jpg)
Made an almost exact mirror copy of the exhaust. Also added PE parts on cylinder heads.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/2/4/6/193246-10885-25-720.jpg)
And the view through the back of the car.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/3/6/5/197365-10885-35-720.jpg)
Scratchbuild rear brake cool ducts. Basically a bendable straw you might find in your favourite drink.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/3/6/6/197366-10885-77-720.jpg)
Dummy exhaust pipes.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/3/6/7/197367-10885-89-720.jpg)
And the dummies in place. Also note the added ribs on the rear housing.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/3/6/8/197368-10885-57-720.jpg)
Overall picture showing the current state. (forgot the shock absorbers for the picture).
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/3/6/9/197369-10885-19-720.jpg)
Another picture showing the current state. (forgot the shock absorbers for the picture).
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/2/1/9/219219-10885-71-720.jpg)
added new, bigger, sills to replace the one's I took away earlier.
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/2/2/0/219220-10885-23-720.jpg)
They're held in place with a couple of slightly bend PE leftovers.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/2/2/1/219221-10885-52-720.jpg)
Opened up more holes...
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/2/2/2/219222-10885-63-720.jpg)
Scraped the top of the air intake to make it look thinner.
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/2/2/3/219223-10885-90-720.jpg)
Put part of the head-lamp covers in place (arrow) and filled up 2 of the 5 "holes" over the wheel well.
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/9/0/2/229902-10885-84-720.jpg)

![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/9/0/3/229903-10885-53-720.jpg)

![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/2/7/4/456274-10885-97-720.jpg)

![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/2/7/5/456275-10885-92-720.jpg)

![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/2/7/6/456276-10885-92-720.jpg)
Scratchbuild the gold "plated" air conductor.
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/2/7/7/456277-10885-52-720.jpg)

![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/2/8/0/456280-10885-39-720.jpg)

![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/2/8/2/456282-10885-86-720.jpg)

Tim, awsome work and I am wondering just how much will remain visible mate.
I thought a lot about my SauberC9 and doing all the under skin work, but I went after the engine compartment instead.
What you are achieving here is quite impressive. I like what you have done. 🙂 👍

Thanks Kerry! Because I opened the gaps on the rear deck AND most of rear gaps will be (almost) uncovered there will be quite a bit visible (in my opinion 😉). Also, I'm not going to fatefully replicate the entire engine bay, just enough to make it look like a proper one.

@Spanjaard: It's basically stuff to repair outdoor-clothing. A friend found it at the "Veritas" in Belgium years ago. I don't have the package anymore, but I think it was from a brand called "Prym".
