.
Cool project, shaping up nicely and the one finished by Martin is excellent, as Mr Burns might say 🙂
Must I do fancy a U Boat but I've recently realised that there was more
than one type and they differ a fair bit from mini U Boats to the Atlantic
version which has left me uncertain as to which U Boat was the classic &
most famous U Boat of them all, was it the VII/C-41 ?

@Choppa : Type VII C and C41 , 659 of them built . Although the most successful ones like U 48 , U 47, U 99,
And U 100 were the of the earlier VII B type.

aha thanks chaps, so this is the kit for me then 😄
Some of them look very different to each other, like the mini ones.
So which one was the Atlantic version and how many of them looked liked the VII/C ?
and which had the anti aircraft gun on the front ?
or am I imagining that detail ? 😄

I would say the type VII was the Most produced type but there are many different types that are interesting for example seehund/biber/neger/VII B/IXC/XXII/XXIII/ and so on.... Call me the submarine Nerd☺☺ if i we're asked in german about subs i could explain it much better ...shame on me because of my bad english ☺☺

Choppa, like I said 659type VII boats were built, looking more or less the same except for various variants of AA arrangements aft of the conning tower. The bow gun was not for AA purposes . It was part of the offensive armament against vessels, and deleted later in during the war. Some of the later VIIs were equipped with a snorkel at the bow. Type VII and IX were designed for atlantic operations but the IXs were a lot bigger and had a far greater range, allowing them to operate off the coast of the USA and even in the southern Atlantic and the Indian ocean. Some of them were based in Indonesia and Japan. The VII and IX boats took part in Operation
Paukenschlag ( Drumbeat ) in 1941 in US waters, the VII were supplied by special submarine tankers Type XIV ( " Milk Cows " ) later during the war to reach distant waters.

Oh right, I didn't look into your album 😳.. I 'm in for this one. Is there any aftermarket PE available for this version, or is there any included in the kit ? Yes, you really could call me a nerd for German subs I suppose..... I think they really look great, and the stories behind them are tragic but very interesting . Not very many books about this subject I didn't read..... 🙂

Ulf does have a point, if you lean against something to hold the camera steadier that would be a big help 🙂
Another suggestion might be to set the resolution to maximum on your phone and move away from the model a bit more that way both ends of the sub will more likely be in focus at the same time 🙂
Another suggestion might be to invite a friend over with a decent camera who knows how to use it 😄

The focus is out quite badly on most of them to be honest, sorry but it is true 🙂
A good idea is to take loads and loads of photos, several from the same spot,
- bang ! bang ! bang ! bang ! bang ! bang ! - next position ... repeat -
go through them all on a decent sized screen, phone screen cannot be trusted for checking quality, discarding the shite and selecting the best, retaking some angles if needed etc.
Another factor is poor-low light and with automatic cameras like phone cameras (usually) the shutter opens for longer which means any movement holding the camera will be exaggerated,
Solution - get good a light, 200 watts minimum 🙂

I don't think they are all bad. You have the same problem I do, I take bad pictures to. Part of it is me part is my camera. I have to make sure I am very still when I take the pictures,or they are out of focous. I did notice some of yours are the same way. Try to make sure you hold still while you are taking them. Choppa is always giving me a hard time about my pictures. LOL. He means well.

Sorry chaps, I didn't mean to be too forthright 🙂
Low light is the main difficulty I reckon as means long exposure times and any movement is exaggerated.
Setting the resolution to maximum, moving the camera further away and trimming the image afterwards is an easier way of doing close ups too.
Well anyhow Ivo, like Clifford says they're not all bad but a few simple things will help greatly, and yeah, I definitely mean well guys, take it is a compliment chaps, I think you both do good work that deserves decent photography😉
