Album image #1
ok, let´s get started!

Album image #2
priming the parts with AK interactive black primer with couple drops of thinner

Album image #3
for this model I used the recomended interior green from Mr Hobby aqueous, as it seem to match perfecly with the eduard pre-painted photoetch.

Album image #4
test fitting and some putty in the cowling just to be 100% sure of the joint smoothness, doesn´t seem that I'm going to have any problem, here is possible to see the Cyberhobby one, I was testing the pavla resin cawling

Album image #5
the back view of the eduard front cowling show simplicity, but when looked from the front it doesn´t have the caracteristic "collar" ring going around the engine, it is interrupted.

Album image #6
to fix the area around the engine and to make things easier for the copy process, I filled the areas with milliputty and sanded down everything afterwards

Album image #7
I will copy that to use in the other plane too, so here I prepered one plastic card "box" to contain the sylicon and I glued one simple base to the pice

Album image #8
that´s it ready to be covered in silicon

Album image #9
and here the 2 part silicon goes over everything

Album image #10
after braking the box and removing the part, here is what the mold looks like

Album image #11
and here is the casting result, I am very happy with that! , just a clean copy with the shape correct, no bubles, lot´s of fun! I' so exited! will be using this tecnic much more from now!

Album image #12
after the clean up the result is flawless! I can imagine already me copping super detailed bombs and ejector seats to use in other double or triple projects... definitely enjoying it!

Album image #13
here goes the twins! I will be adding the project to the Cyber hobby here soon

Album image #14
next step: weather the cockpit and paint the engine! props in the Eduard have way better shape, but the Cyber Hobby is OK

Album image #15
Assenbling the bombs from the Eduard kit, this fins ORIGAMI style are realy a test for the patience, but I realy love tiny things! ^_^

Album image #16
The interior after the wash and drybrush, ready to put together Man! I really love this painted photoech! but be warned! in the instructions Eduard misplaced some of the numbers so, look carefully the shape and check references to get the right piece!

Album image #17
side-by-side, the CH ones is already with the front of the cowling copyed from Eduard, the propeller from the Eduard´s is more twisted as we can see but in the other hand, one positive point of the CH: you can make the cooling doors in the open position!

Album image #20
Ok, after one brake to make the Mitsubishi KA 14, back to the Hellcats, here I took my last chance to frame the cockpit in detail before close the fuselage.

Album image #21
The harnesses look much better in this one, better than the CH and also better than the "super fabric" also from eduard that I just used in the Mitsubishi KA 14!

Album image #22
close up with mignifying glasses in the details for the instrument pannel: I love the levers! I cutted the gunsight and painted the silver, I´ll be using one acetate to replicate the reflective gun sight on top of that

Album image #23
here with my hand we can have one idea of the sise of it.

Album image #24
ok, more shot and next step: close it forever... the various buttons were picked up by using toothpick sharpened a little more

Album image #25
engines: I used alclad gloss black as a base coat and Mr. paint Titanium over that, to wash it I used Vallejo acrylic wash, I found that using enamel washes I simply clean all the way to the plastic again so that´s why I went to the acrylilc wash

Album image #26
here I´ll alpply this photoetch to the engine of Eduard´s model, huge small task!!

Album image #27
gluing the Frame in the back of the cowing with PVA glue and primed black

Hi fellow modelers! thanks for the interest, as you can see in the pictures I´m building 2 models, both have pros and cons, the Cyber hobby one have the super nice feature to do the wings folded backwards and have much better detailed exhaust pipes wich are incluseve hollowed! I will try to copy that to use in the Eduard, but for the engine cowling, the Eduard have the correct shape when I look to the pictures, the Cyber Hobby have one terrible shaped cowling, and I tryed to adapt the pavla resin made for italery, but it do not match correctly and do not alow for the engine to go in, so I decided to copy the eduard and adapt that front cowling into the cowling cover of the Cyber hobby one.

I ve used this twin build technique with swaps or copy features many times and have always been pleased with the results and lessons learned. I am glad to see someone to a photoarticle about this way of approacing a project.

Album info

Another "twin project"
This one I'll be using the decals from the Cyber hobbie to make it 3 ton camo and that one will have the wings folded and the overall dark blue using the decals from this kit, I'll be using some parts from one into another making copy from the good bits to place in the other one, let´s see how it turn out!
