Album info
I received an already assembled Revell 1/139 KC-135A Stratotanker (it is too long because it is based on a 707-120) and I wanted to make a 1/144 KC-135E Stratotanker of an ANG unit. I also wanted to see if I could make one with three turbo hoods on the engines, not just two as in the Revell AWACS kit. So I started by carefully cutting off the non-turbo hood engine front and replacing it with the turbo hood one from my spares. I had to add a small shim of plastic stock to fill the gap left by the razor saw. I puttied it up and sanded it down. MTF on the engines. I also cut the fwd fuselage off along the rear of the cargo door (7/16" ) and used the scrap to reinforce the inside joint. I also cut the rear fuselage (13/32" ) and used the scraps to reinforce the interior joint. I puttied it up and will sand all joints and rivets down to scale. Also,
I removed the "REVELL INC" on the underside of the stabilizer.
