The island needed a LOT of additional work to make it look like it did in the spring of 1943
I had to redo some items and some I plainly forgot and had to add after I thought I was done

Painting and weathering the hull
These paints were used
And these artist´s oils for weathering
The quarterdeck is done
Rather do the railings on the hull inserts before adding the inserts

A tedious operation - adding the flight deck
After cleaning up the seams, the deck is masked
A proud moment - placing the painted island on the painted deck
Looking how it´ll all comes together may enhance one´s motivation
Six months into the project, the chicken come to roost
In my opinion, these NorthStar figures are currently the best on the market.
I was happy to find designer Micro Master´s items at shapeways.com - these boats are just excellent.
The Carley floats by the same designer are most helpful, too.
The items need degreasing prior to painting, I used an ultrasonic bath with some detergent
Having added the crew figures and iffy antenna masts plus rigging, the model is done for the time being.
I like that perspective.
