More subassemblies , amongst them some of the various additional sponsons

The island needed a LOT of additional work to make it look like it did in the spring of 1943
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/5/4/6/289546-10800-71-720.jpg)
I had to redo some items and some I plainly forgot and had to add after I thought I was done

And its supports

A neat wooden deck, courtesy Evergreen´s N scale car siding

My ultimate horror is this RN radar array
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/5/5/1/289551-10800-19-720.jpg)
The island should be, um, mostly done now
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/5/5/2/289552-10800-60-720.jpg)
Also from this side. Well done on both sides, so to speak.

More island details.

Painting and weathering the hull
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/5/5/5/289555-10800-40-720.jpg)
These paints were used
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/5/5/6/289556-10800-31-720.jpg)
And these artist´s oils for weathering
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/5/5/7/289557-10800-17-720.jpg)
The quarterdeck is done

Rather do the railings on the hull inserts before adding the inserts

Adding the inserts
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/5/6/0/289560-10800-99-720.jpg)
A tedious operation - adding the flight deck
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/5/6/5/289565-10800-74-720.jpg)
After cleaning up the seams, the deck is masked
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/5/6/6/289566-10800-51-720.jpg)
A proud moment - placing the painted island on the painted deck
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/5/6/7/289567-10800-43-720.jpg)
Looking how it´ll all comes together may enhance one´s motivation

Six months into the project, the chicken come to roost

In my opinion, these NorthStar figures are currently the best on the market.

I was happy to find designer Micro Master´s items at shapeways.com - these boats are just excellent.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/7/2/2/291722-10800-37-720.jpg)
The Carley floats by the same designer are most helpful, too.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/7/2/3/291723-10800-55-720.jpg)
The items need degreasing prior to painting, I used an ultrasonic bath with some detergent
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/7/2/4/291724-10800-20-720.jpg)
Having added the crew figures and iffy antenna masts plus rigging, the model is done for the time being.

I like that perspective.

Outstanding modelmaking at it´s best, Frank. This is a perfect aircraftcarrier model with a very atmospheric airwing composition. Great! 👍
