That's impressive and in 1:32 it's going to be massive! I will certainly follow this build.

pff, that's detailed, must be regarding the pricetag.. Is all that included in the kit?

The HPH PBY-5A is indeed an impressive kit, everything is resin and every detail in the kit is meticulously modeled. That's why I have decided to make it as a partly cutaway model, it really would be a shame to hide away all those nice details. This is my first resin kit... and it's to say the least: Very intimidating. Hopefully I will be able to 'pull it off' without loosing my mind completely 😉

I've built the 1:48 version and it was already huge, but that comparison picture, holy crap! At 1:32 it has a wingspan of exactly 1 Meter oO
Good luck with that mate, we'll keep you motivated 😄

Kent, this is really a cool project. You said, all resin, but I heard, that the fuselage and wings are made of glassfibre (GFK) ?
You could also do the famous one of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, but it was a 6A.

Great work on the details. Also liking the Danish colours it's going to be getting.

Most impressive to say the least. !! 👍
I will be keen to know if the waste gun positions have the shell casing scoup/funnel included, s I remember seeing them on the refurbished Cat at the RAAF base at Amberly some years back. Just wondering really. But I love your results so far. 🙂

Incredible, Kent! The inteior detail looks fantastic. What colour scheme are you going to use for the grey and red? I am planning the same scheme for my 1/72 Catalina....

There are lots of good models here in scalemates, but than, once in awhile there is one Outstanding and Extraordinary modeler and you, Sir, of course, belongue to that elite category.
The sky is the limit.
I'm speechless 😮

Maybe because the plane itself is already so detailed, a bland surface, maybe a mirror? That way all the attention is focussed on the plane itself and won't be detracted to a vignette.

A damp timber ramp with a background photo of blue /green water. Black and white photo? Simple, in sync but not enough to compete with the Cat.
