Revell Tiger II Ausf. B with PART & Aber updates

 

 

 

 

 

 

After many years construction was finally finished. There are unfortunately some moving-across-the-country-related issues (*cough* side skirts *cough*) but after watching coldemonpl's marvelous Tiger II videos on Youtube I wanted to try my luck with this late-war "Hinterhaltstarnung". 

Due to this I also switched my intended vehicle to Tiger II "008" of schwere SS-Panzerabteilung 501 since it is documented to have had an ambush pattern and was photographed (which gave me much more to work with than my initial elusive "224").

So far only the basic painting and an initial filter to harmonize the colours has been done. All the post-shading and weathering still remains. 

Coming together slowly. Bits and pieces added, decals added, filter applied and some initial oil dot fading applied. 

Yes, I know - the towing cables are too long but I added the shackles to them nearly a decade ago and can't find it in me to rip them off again. I'm taking the "artistic freedom" card. 😉 

Tracks and underbelly weathered and "muddied", spare track links painted and initially washed with dust and light rust (will get another go). I also selected the figures to go with it, though I wished the Orion Panzer Crew Set had a more fitting second figure or was at least not as soft in pastic (with all the problems that goes with that). 

Next steps - chipping, painting the exhausts and then I'll go about making the final tiny splashes of mud/earth/dirt.
