Building the Atlantic Models HMS Glamorgan after Exocet damage

Album image #1
Beginning the base. After making a cutout for the hull, I produced a general wake pattern with a gas torch.

Album image #2
The seam between lower and upper hull needed less work than expected.

Album image #3
The vessel was placed on the base with a list to starboard.

Only after shaping the base surface was it cut to size, making for neater borders.

Album image #8
The base after the first stippling application of white wall paint.

Album image #9
Test fitting the main resin components.

Album image #10
The solidly cast wheelhouse was removed.

Album image #11
A replacement wheelhouse roof was cut from sheet.

Album image #12
The new wheelhouse will be fully glazed.

Album image #13
The machined brass barrels by Master (available via Atlantic Models) are a marked improvement over the white metal kit parts.

Album image #14
These bridge wing gratings are L´Arsénal 1:700 items.

Album image #15
Beginning the construction of the trickiest PE subassembly, the impressive Sea Slug launcher.

Album image #16
After several days of work, and dis- and re-assembling the thing twice, I called it quits. It was an exercise in self-control.

Album image #17
The second trickiest item is the double bedstead type 965 radar array.

Album image #18
Halfway through the build.

Album image #19
Master´s excellent, yet demanding, 20 mm Oerlikons were used instead of the kit parts.

Album image #20
The completed radar array.
