When you get to the trucks.... I saw this in your stash and it looks super sweet. You gotta build it. 😄 Freightliner FLD 120 (Italeri 3814, 1:24)

Been doing a lot of detail painting on the Chevelles. I am now starting the assembly phase.

Windows installed. Interior installed. Test fit of firewall shows fitment issues. Had to fabricate and install 1/4" shim pieces to bring firewall forward of interior so that it lines up under cowl.

Ran into some drama trying to put the front bumper/headlights in. The would not fit GRRRR, Had to cut the head lights off of the bumper and carefully trim the inside of the headlight openings (body already painted). I actually had to use channel lock pliers to fully seat the left side.

Got to glue the body to the chassis finally. All that is left is wheels, rear bumper and exhaust tips.

Thanks Bob. I wanted to go with red stripes but I didn't want to strip the paint to do it.

Christopher, Fine interconnect wire or eBay premade distributors. The boots are the smallest heat shrink I can find. I get it from a nice Mom and Pop electronics parts house here locally.

Seems like those premade distributors are only available in the states, they arent expensive but having them shipped to Germany would probably be too much. Guess Ill have to give it a try and scratch-build some cables. I have some thin copper wire, it should be about the right size but the boots would be the hard part

Christopher, They are easy to make, Fine wire, evergreen tube, run 9 passes, glue with Testors window maker, let cure, cut in half, trim ends, paint distributor, done. Install is drill holes in head, glue distributor, route and trim wires, add heatshrink, push leads into holes, secure with more window maker, glue lead to top of coil. Takes about an hour to make dozen. Due to dry time of the various steps, it takes me 5 consecutive day to install. GENTLEMEN, Start your engines! | Album by musclecarfan (1:25)

I did find some fine wire yesterday, but it is bare wire, and I think i have some fine wire somewhere that has the insulation on it still, which may work better. Maybe Ill go back to my Mustang and add some cables to it too. I just think the paint job on the Mustang doesn't look to good. I used the Revell spray on it and the red just looks weird somehow. I used Tamiya on the Camaro and Hemi, and the colors look a lot better and a lot more glossy too. I even put a gloss coat on the Mustang and it still doesn't look all that glossy. I used telephone extension cable to do the plug wires on a 1/12th build some time ago.
There are 10 wires in the cable & they are stiff wire so super easy to shape around the heads & have a plastic coating that's easy to paint.

Wow. I have the exact same one, but in diecast. This looks really impressive.

Mine is only a very shallow understanding of the deeper sanctums of car modeling, but I really like this one - particularly the striped body + the saturated-red interior are a pleasure to look at.

The wheels and tires went on today. All that is left are the exhaust tips and some car wax. Yay!

Always one of my favorite Chevelle. Well done so far, looking good.
For the stripes, perhaps only prepaint them in red and make a new clear coat?

That's gorgeous Bill!
The paint looks beautiful in the daylight & the big Rat looks perfect.
Wheels & stance are up to your usual high standards 😉

Thank you for the compliments. However, I cannot take credit for the paint as it was pre-painted.

James, I am afraid I cannot take credit for the wheel arches either. Those also came pre-painted. Wheel arches are trimmed chrome in most of my builds. Over the years I have progressed from silver enamel to silver Sharpie to BMF and now Molotow chrome. BMF looks the best but Molotow is easier.

Album info
This is a ProShop pre-painted kit in black with white stripes. After some mixing and matching of parts from my other Chevelles, this one is DONE. Overall it turned out pretty well. I picked the Cragar S/S wheels because they look good on Chevys. I went with a red interior just to spice it up. The engine is a 454 Big Block with ignition wires added. Except for the side marker lights, no BMF was used. Just a touch of Molotow chrome here and there.
