The beginning - the kit box with artwork straight from "Sailor" and the Big Ed.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/7/3/6/596736-10800-99-720.jpg)
The very neat coloured PE for the interior
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/7/3/8/596738-10800-51-720.jpg)
I got two of the second PE sheet, most of it for flaps and jet exhausts.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/7/3/7/596737-10800-59-720.jpg)
I tend to start with the most intimidating-looking PE item. It was much easier than expected.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/7/3/9/596739-10800-67-720.jpg)
The kit is engineered in a quite complicated manner, but mostly it fit very well. The same can be said about the PE items - they fit very well.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/7/4/0/596740-10800-90-720.jpg)
Working my way through possible subassemblies, I made progress unexpectedly fast.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/7/4/1/596741-10800-32-720.jpg)
The heads of the SNEB rocket pods were sprayed black and picked out with True Metal Gunmetal.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/7/4/4/596744-10800-86-720.jpg)
The pre-printed PE makes things easier and much nicer.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/7/4/2/596742-10800-72-720.jpg)
Even the ejection seats with all the assorted PE were a quite straightforward build.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/7/4/3/596743-10800-92-720.jpg)
Fitting the cockpit into the fuselage.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/7/4/5/596745-10800-91-720.jpg)
Making sure of a good fit with the fuselage halves. Tamiya Extra Thin was applied sequentially and from the underside.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/7/4/6/596746-10800-37-720.jpg)
To protect the cockpit interior, I attached the closed canopy using Humbrol Maskol.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/7/4/7/596747-10800-40-720.jpg)
The resin wheels are very neat and good value for money.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/7/4/8/596748-10800-86-720.jpg)
This is where the very first PE part ends up.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/7/4/9/596749-10800-44-720.jpg)
I used very little filler. The small seams at the front end of the wheelwell are one of the areas.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/7/5/0/596750-10800-66-720.jpg)
The other was the seam between the inner and outer wing panel from the underside.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/7/5/1/596751-10800-12-720.jpg)
The intakes have been painted and decaled prior to assembly, now I´m heading towards using Alclad.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/7/5/4/596754-10800-72-720.jpg)
More subassemblies waiting in the paintshop.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/7/5/2/596752-10800-33-720.jpg)
Fiddly but necessary -working with the excellent paint masks. I also masked the undersides of the canopy parts for ease of painting.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/7/5/3/596753-10800-13-720.jpg)
After using Alclad on the metallic areas, quite some masking, priming, preshading and painting.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/7/5/5/596755-10800-10-720.jpg)
The Alclad areas look really quite nice.
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/7/5/6/596756-10800-77-720.jpg)
The underside with some preshading.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/7/5/8/596758-10800-19-720.jpg)
Decaling begins - this is just the stencil placement guide.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/7/5/7/596757-10800-43-720.jpg)
The underside with all the decals needed. An exercise in patience and serenity.

Album info
Using one of the markings options from the kit, plus the Eduard Big Ed set of assorted PE and masks, plus the Eduard resin wheels, I built one of the aircraft depicted in the classic BBC documentary "Sailor".
I am planning to add the other types flown from HMS Ark Royal, and just might do a common display for them. I am looking forward to Airfix issuing the Buccaneer later in 2019, and have the Sword Gannet AEW. That leaves the Sea King and the Wessex.
