Tu-22 M Backfire
found this old kit in myattic, I abandonned it for more than a 15 years. broken and dirty pieces. at that time i found too big to deal
started general inspection the glue aged
pieces was not jolding together since
due to several move, pieces brokenned but the main structure was good
the cockpit was made according to ESCI plan however it is not accurate
trying to make the cockpit less hugly
some detailing of the cockpit but as I will have all the door closed I hope we will not see it too much
trying to put back the cockpit together ...
... struggling 😉
huge joint everywhere, trying to mask them
... gaps almost everywhere
preparing the cannopy
some pieces weee lost, trying to scratchbuild some from sprue
as it is a big piece I hanged it to spray the primer layers
first layer another sanding
here we are I have to leave in mission for several months i hope I will have a chance to resume once i am back... TBC 🙂
loong process of filling and sanding started one mont ago

Good to see what can be achieved with these old Esci kits! Very encouraging for those of us with examples in our stash 😉
Looks like one of those projects which works better when you break it down into small stages?
Nice red team build.

Hi Pierre 👍 I too have this one in my stash and will refer to your work when I give it a bash also. Impressive restoration project you undertook - looks great 🙂

Trés Bien, Pierre! The panel line shading is very nice and subtle. I have this kit in my stash too. Bought it second hand and got it cheap, but the decals are water-damaged. Looking for aftermarket decals and ordered the wheel set from Res/Kit.

Thank you guies for the kind comments, I realized recently that a polish company is proposing a photoetch improvement for the kit for the one who has it it may be cool to have an hand on it. I hope you will chose to build them in 2022. I have tumpeter a Tu-22M3 and a blinder in the stash, would be cool to make a tupolev or even a Tu-22 group build ! 🙂
