So, I've never done a Spitfire. Although it's a common and popular subject, I guess every collection should have one. This is a simple but nicely detailed kit and I hope I can create a fine finish with authentic weathering (that's the challenge).

Up to my usual tricks......undercoat the whole thing with enamel X-11. Then Mr Hobby Premium dull Topcoat.

Done the underside Sky colouring. Experimental masking and attempted colour modulation. Hoping that after a filter wash and weathering, this will look the goods. (Although I will admit it is "artistic" rather than "realistic"😢

Great progress. May I suggest some further blending, so it's not so stark?

I really like the piping work you have done in the cockpit.

Thanks for the positive feedback........yes I think after a filter wash and weathering the contrast should blend ok....too many times I have been too heavy with the final colour and lost everything that I worked for.

Somewhat finished this little Spitfire. I don't want to over do the weathering so I'll leave it for the time being. Footnote to the finishing...I was rather pleased with the Tamiya decals. They go on easy and although I did my best to f#*k it all up, they all came up a treat with little or no silvering. Amazing stories..!!
P.S. Just my opinion...but I see allot of very "artistic" looking weathering on models these days. It's getting out of control with panel lines and colour variation to make the model "pop". Well....that's not what the real world looks like....so I'm starting to dislike these builds more and more. In the end it's everyone to their own. Thanks for looking.
