MV Free Enterprise II
Mounted on plinth, replacement decals required
Nearly finished article…
All major fittings on, painting pretty much complete. Railings to be added along with rigging, davit details etc, solid bulwark added to forward “sun deck”
Progress made
Minor touching up along waterline still needed
Still need to add some sort of colour to the portholes, windows etc to accentuate them
Hull has coats of satin white, NATO Green (Humbrol 120) and anti fouling red (Humbrol 70)
Main decks reassembled and given initial coat of paint.
First coat to check for blemishes.
Worst fit is around the additional part for the lower bow. A little more filler needed
Some Mr Surfacer required to tidy up hull
Decks repainted with Humbrol 30
Hull reglued
All major parts stripped and cleaned up
Paint coming off the hull nicely, it also helped remove the fairly weak glue holding it together.
Decks removed
I was able to take the kit to pieces relatively easily. The kit in the background might be able to help with parts, but was glued well, although not painted.
OK, quite a lot of paint to remove
EBay purchase for £8….
Finally finished itv red lettering and brass plate

I'm guessing you like a challenge! What did you use to remove the paint? She's looking so much better already, so I can't wait to see you add the next level of detail, and bring her to life 🙂

Wasn't so much the challenge, more the scarcity of the kit. I'm only left with the Airfix Southern Cross now and that really is like finding hens teeth….
I just used Revell paint remover, poured some into a tub, put the whole kit as purchased into it for about half an hour, then removed it and rubbed away. The old glue had dissolved as well so most parts came apart fairly easily.
