Scribing the upper fuselage vents with my home made template, made with some aluminum sheet.

All vents (22) scribed ! Need to clean up a little bit, but quite happy with the outcome.

Eventually, found a good reference picture of the area behind the ejection seat. Probably from a prototype or early stage airframe, so I will need to extrapolate a little bit and rearrange the area…

Seriously, Airfux… did you really give your best to depict the guns ? 🙁
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/9/6/6/1312966-21976-16-720.jpg)
Starting to correct the guns area: rebuild, drill, smooth…
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/4/8/6/1321486-21976-40-720.jpg)
Cockpit’s floor is in place. Under, pieces of lead have been inserted. The upper part of the nose is glued, in order to prepare and smooth the area.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/4/8/5/1321485-21976-62-720.jpg)
Quite annoying and tricky job. Some plastic card has been added in order to get a proper fitting…
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/4/8/4/1321484-21976-14-720.jpg)
Some metal tubes have been installed deep in the gun holes… barely visible, like on the real aircraft. More mastic and surfacer are needed…
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/5/3/5/1323535-21976-98-720.jpg)
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/5/3/6/1323536-21976-38-720.jpg)
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/8/4/5/1327845-21976-56-720.jpg)
Internal parts have been installed, helping to improve a little bit the fittings. The gear bay are nicely depicted.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/8/4/7/1327847-21976-30-720.jpg)
Issue with this kit: the exhaust has to be installed before glueing the half fuselages (way too large at the base to be inserted afterward… so it would be hard to get rid of the awful seam near the exhaust (see pic #7 for reference)
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/8/4/4/1327844-21976-52-720.jpg)
BTW, due to the previous shortening of the fuselage aft, the exhaust has to be shortened too. So I cut off a section of the exhaust, and applied bevel cuts…
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/8/4/6/1327846-21976-39-720.jpg)
… so the exhaust’s aft can be inserted later !

Great work rv! The panels you haven scirbed, I assume they are missing on the kit?

@ Erik: the Mistral is a French license-built Vampire (F5), but with a Nene engine instead of the Goblin, and other details (ejection seat for example). So the airframe is quite different, with the vents and new designed air intakes.

Nicely done on your rescribe and correction efforts. Can't wait to see more.

I like your detailling efforts. How did you create the scribing templates? Scribing panel lines and access doors are still pretty much of a challenge to me.

Hello Michael. I used the aluminium from a soda can, scribed with a needle and then cut with a sharpen x-acto blade… few blades and attempts were needed ! 😉

I like your proceedings. I wanted to suggest a similar technique to solve your exhaust problem, but your way to sand it such that it self centers is way better. Gotta keep that in mind. And a late Thanx for your explanation.
