Sandringham du réseau aérien interinsulaire
A wet Short
But in its element nevertheless
The Short Sandringham F-OBIP is a unique example. Born in 1943 Sunderland mkIII for the RAF, she was transformed into mkV in 1944, equipped with Pratt and Whitney double wasp of 1200 hp.
In 1947, BOAC transformed her into sandringham mk7 for the transport of 45 passengers. She was sold to RAI in 1958, which operated her until 1970 for connections between the French Pacific islands. She accumulated 6000h of flight before being collected by the musée de l’air et de l’espace du Bourget. She was damaged in 1984 by a storm. She is still under renovation.
Wonderfull F-OBIP at the musée du Bourget before the drama
Traces of the 1984 storm are visible at the rear of the fuselage that was reconstructed.
Engine covers are too long for the selected version
Come on, let’s cut it all
The four engines disconnected
We take this opportunity to break through everything. We have to fill the void now. To be continued
The Sandringham is a civilized Short Sunderland mark V. It is therefore equipped with Pratt and Withney R-1830 of 1200 hp
The R-1830 has a diameter of 1.2 meters or 8mm at 1/144. Scratch attempt.
End of engine work.
Engines overhauled

First decals placed
The basic colors are laid
Today, the other side.
The decals are very thin and very fragile. Sudden stress in perspective.

disaster, by wanting to add flags and different portholes in homemade decals, this area was torn away.
Disaster repaired. We take the opportunity to put the portholes in the right place

Very cool topic, following.
Wasn't aware there's a Sandringham kit out there, good to know, I might go for the Ryanair one at some point in time 😉
