MBV D-2 1/72 (Novemberprojekt 2022)
The project begins... I cut a square of foam to be the base and also 3D printed new rails to be used (not shown here). The D-2s carried a twin Maxim on one of their turrets, which luckily is availabel from UM as a kit, also... November has only so many days left... let´s see if I can get this done 🙂
The D-2 is mostly assembled with the antenna made more like the reference photos I have. The whole kit might be somewhat off in dimensions but I currently do not have 3-view plans for the D-2.
This is how the vehicle will go into paint. I´ll leave off the AA Maxim as fitting it would be alittle too tight on the turret... it will likely be used on another draisine
Some paints were applied: The basecoats were done using the airbrush over a black/white primer base (which unfortunately isn´t that visible) and details on the base wer picked out using acrylics. The figures were also painted using acrylics and details on the wagon still have to be painted in order to proceed to the oil-paints there.
The base awaiting static grass: I have added Ammo Splashes to give some colour variation as well as oils
The draisine after some oil paints to make the colour less uniform
And now it is green... In fact, the static grass has a nice colour for what I had in mind, so I was able to get away without painting them. Also, there are lasercut paper plants by modelscene and a bush behind the draisine

@Villiers de Vos: It is quite interesting, indeed 👍 So much in fact that it had sent me down something of a rabbit hole researching those Soviet self propelled armored railcars ranging from smaller draisines all the way to the big „Rail Cruisers"… a part of me wants to build them all now 🙂

Cool topic!
That's a good idea, raely seen here.
You'll use White stork figures, they're very good in detail, i like them much.
Also the base looks promising

That´s a pretty thing!
It´s a very life- like scene in my opinion, The vegitation convinces me in any case.
Especially like the way of weathering on the draisine, it doesn´t change the view of the essentials
Also like the way of painting, has something special in my eyes
Three thumbs up for it 👍👍👍
Oh what the heck, four 👍😁

Album info
Soviet aarmored selfpropelled railcars (or MBVs), are a pretty niche subject when it comes to modelling. However, I went in and did some research on the topic and now I want to build them 🙂 This is the "mass" produced D-2 (more Info on it in the project description) from UM in 1/72 which I am building for the "Novemberprojekt" hosted by the German modelling podcast Abenteur Modellbau. As it is themed 10x10cm, I will put the vehicle on a 10x10cm vignette with some nice resin figures from White Stork.
