Hi Sven, you're building the wrong ship😉 There are some wonderful photos of Índefatigables sister HMS New Zealand in the NZ National Library. They're open to public:
natlib.govt.nz/items..text=hms+new+zealand

I found a wonderful high res photo where you can see amazing details also from the steam pipes:

take time to look to all the nice photos showing the crowd while visiting the ship as well as the crew. It is like a window to look back 100 years. I really like these old photos.

Yes they are. And the detail you can discover is awesome. Just look at the ropes stowed around the turret base

Look to the man leaning to the left turret side, he has a camera in his hand. The camera case stand in front of him. Just amazing all these details on these old photos. What do you think is the reason to have them along the barbette, just to stow them?

I would guess they are stowed there because of the thickness. Maybe they are to stiff to bend to the hoses. Especially the weathering due to salt water makes the ropes very stiff, so it could be a possibility for better handling?
