SA316 Alouette III Gendarmerie

This is a kit that I have had laying around for a while now, just waiting to get to it. Now has been a good time to work on it and have a bit of fun.
This my little review of the kit and how I found it, I am not a very experienced modeler and just do this hobby to have a bit of fun.

To start off with, this is just a rebox of an old kit and I think it really does show, I found that parts wouldn't go together all that well and the overall fit of the model is okay. Definitely wasn't a dream to build. I think that someone with more skill and experience could probably make the parts fit better, but I am happy with my attempt.
Then the decals, they were quite good in my option. I had a few small tears but I think that was more my fault. I personally struggled to get them to go around the helicopter and in a few places, it doesn't look amazing, most noticeable the steps on both sides, the decal was too big to fit between them. Then in inside the cockpit, I found the two decals to be a bit oversized in terms of scale.

In terms of painting, I used mostly Revell Aqua colours and a few Tamyia colours, the main colour being Revell Aqua 52 Gloss Blue. I am not sure that is the right colour to match the quoted Humbrol 14 French Blue in the instructions. But I think it is a good fit and personally like the way it looks.

One mistake that I made on mine, was that I brushed Tamyia Clear on to the clear parts of the cockpit, which ended up fogging my clear parts, I tried a few ideas to fix the problem. But they didn't work too well. So the clear parts, are not the best and sort of block actually looking into the inside.
My mistake and I have learnt my lesson.

Overall I had a good time and enjoyed making the kit, it wasn't too difficult and I would recommend it if you can find it for a cheap price.
