The reason the Jordan 191 is iconic for me is mainly because it is the F1 debut of Eddie Jordan, a very funny and irreverent Irishman.
I built this 1/20 scale model of Tamiya in 1995. At the time I had few resources, we had to buy paint cans in the color of the model and basically all the assembly was done with just the kit parts which limited the detail . Little existed at the level of “detail parts”. This year I upgraded the details and some parts of the paintwork that were damaged.
This car was designed by Gary Anderson, and for me, in addition to the superb color scheme, the mustache-shaped front aileron and its entire design is sublime.
The debut was at the US Grand Prix in 1991, with Andrea de Cesaris and Bertrand Gachot as drivers. The latter driver was replaced at the Belgian Grand Prix by Michael Schumacher, who caused a sensation at Spa-Francorchamps until the clutch held. In that same GP, Andrea de Cesaris, 33rd, was second behind Senna, until the Ford Cosworth HB V8 engine left. Jordan finished that year in 5th place overall and was for me one of the friendliest teams and that usually everyone liked. Jordan ended up leaving F1 in 2005 (EJ15B) in which Tiago Monteiro was one of its last drivers.
