David, I do it because I like the challenge as well...and I can't write symphonies. Scratch-building in 1/72 also gives me a chance to practice swearing. I'm getting quite good at it now. 😳

I need to drag myself away from using X-4 – even if I think it suits oldie-worldie vehicles. I don't want to be thought of as a one trick pony. I'm at least a two trick pony. 😄 😄

Mr DIt happens sometimes! I've had this alot with brush painting, l think the brush would push paint under.
I use a masking fluid on top of any awkward masks now.
You will get it tidied ok.

Kesa: Photo 28 explains how I made the base – it's as quick, simple and cheap as it's possible to make a reasonably decent base.

BohrmannBeautiful model sir !!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 In the pictures the model doesn't look that small, certainly not 1/72 scale. Only in slide #34 where you can make the comparison with the match does it dawn on me that this really is a small model. Unless the matches in the Uk are a lot bigger than on the continent. 😉

Ctirad BThe wiring was really quite challenging. I used the instructions for the model from Wingnut wings in 1:32 scale as a good wiring diagram. It took me about about a month to stretch all the wires.There were moments when I did not believe that I would finish it. 😉

Ctirad BTo Mike: I couldn't find decals from AIMS here, so I decided to make an airbrush mask. I used the decal image as a base and redrew the whole thing in Corel. Then I cut them out of paper and tested how they fit on the fuselage. After many adjustments, I had the mask cut out on the plotter. It took a lot of time, but I think the result is not bad. (this mask is now available from MH models)

Landlubber MikeWow, that's even more impressive then! I did see the MH Models masks. I have the AIMS decals, but I like the idea of masking the plane instead - plus, I read somewhere that some of the decals aren't the correct shape so hopefully MH got it right.
