Donnacha FoleyHi I purchased Peddinghaus 1/48 decals. After applying decal softener they can still be seen on the Aircraft. Have you come across this problem?

Ben MRotation is well hidden. To rotate your photos, open your album. Click on "manage". Then turn on the "advanced options" toggle. You will now have the ability to rotate photos in the album.

Revell had their boom right im also going to support mine as they did and use poles instead of ratlines. Which tie down inside of the work area ?

BozzerI'm glad I came across this, and from one of my favourite builders too
Back in the 90's I had an escort, just like this. It was my first decent car, and it cost me a lot of money. I remember going to the bank, for a loan, to buy it! I had to have an interview with the bank manager, before he approved the loan. Boy, how things have changed!
Anyway, I loved that car so much, that I found this exact kit, and built it while on vacation. It didn't last, because my boys were young and they liked it and used it as a toy. Skip forward 30 years and I go in search of the kit. I find the Revell version, and the AMT version! Only last week, did I actually get the correct colour for the car I owned, from the car spares store!
I think you know, what my next build is going to be 😉

I didn't know the difference between the amt and revell kit. I think, they are not unboxed from amt to revell. all i see are different bumpers and LHD on the amt.

In the company where I did my training as a car mechanic, there was such an Escort XR3i for sale, which I wanted. Unfortunately, I was too young... and could not afford it. The escort was sold very quickly.

Desert MarlinThis project will have both pilots on the intercom and watching the engine startup process. That is why the same type figure is used in both cockpits. They both monitor the engine to ensure that the EGT and RPM is increasing appropriately. Each has their hand on the control stick to be able to open their MIC as they confirm everything is normal at start. The plan is to have the aircraft loaded with a Nuke (Apache Cruise Missile?). Seems appropriate to me for the days we live in now...

Seems like kit plastic never can compete with resin seats. 🙂
Though, I no longer crave for resin interior for the cockpit because of the work, but seats are ok.

Desert MarlinAs I have begun work on this kit, I am yet again struck by the lack of information in the variations and options provided in the kit. For example, the tail tip is not called out that applies to the 2000N version. While the nose of the 2000D is provided in the kit, it has to be modified to make it correct for the 2000N. Oh bother…

TreehuggerOh, did you fiddle with the nose part to make it match the N version, or did you have to buy aftermarket nose for the N version? I have this kit in my stash, but haven't really looked any it yet.

Desert MarlinI'm using the D nose but converting it to an N version. I'm also closing the "sucker doors" on the inlets to represent an engine that is not yet started... I'm assuming initial hydraulic power is applied from the APU and auxiliary hydraulic pumps have brought the gear door up. I'm going to close the speed breaks for pre-engine start configuration...

Desert MarlinThanks for the heads up! The BAM nose looks fantastic! Sadly, the 2000N nose has a pitot tube and does not have the RDY antenna lines. It seems that much of the 2000N systems are somewhat earlier than the -5 systems. Everything I can find on the 2000N seems to be somewhat austere compared with the 2000-5. The ResKit cockpit is worth every penny!

Desert MarlinThe pilot is from REEDOAK. They have several different figures in various poses so the realism can be developed based on the aircraft scenario. This model is being build to represent events just prior to engine start.

Desert MarlinThe glass and HUD went in great! I had to lightly sand the edge of the glass to get it to fit snugly into the ResKit frame between the front and back seats. I used 1000 grit and lightly buffed all the way around the edge. Fits perfectly!

Desert MarlinCockpit is done! Looks like the ResKit cockpit tub fits perfectly! Lots of trimming to get the crew in the proper fit. Right now, I think it's ready for final checks before fuselage join. The forward control panel needs some sanding for fit, but it does work. I have left the seats, pilots and control panels loose until final fuselage join just to have "wiggle room" before closing. I was able to adjust the forward control stick to make it match the pilot's hand more closely. Just need to check a few more things and then join the fuselage halves!

Desert MarlinUsing water and a paper towel(s), I am able to verify where the soured paint/gloss has occurred. It has to be removed since the decal process will definitely find the errors during application. If the coating cannot stand water, it will never support the markings...

Suffice it to say that this image of an Indigenous Chief at the Wailing Wall and this particular Mirage 2000N seem to intersect just a little bit.

Miguel VaqueroProbably, my most ambitous project yet. Im going to try and recreate a sinking of a submarine with depth charges, droped from a destroyer. Everything in 1/700 scale. For this, i bought the Battle of the Atlantic set, wich comes with a J-Claas destroyer, a type VII German submarine and a Short Sunderland amphibous plane.

Miguel VaqueroToday i wanted to work on how i want my diorama to look. So i hoped on blender and downloded some free assets and placed them together to see how i want it to look. I think for the quantity of resin and the accuracy of the scene this is going to be more or less the final desing of my diorama.

The fitting between the fuselages is too bad and fragile, using putty is not going to do the trick this time cause it will hide a lot of the nice detail and I will not be satisfied. I'll think about how to do it but there's not much hope now😓

PS The nickname 'Flying Porcupine' was probably just a bit of allied propaganda as there's not a lot of evidence the Germans ever referred to a Sunderland as one. It's a lot like the Japanese with the Beaufighter and Whispering Death.

Miguel VaqueroThanks for all the info Jay! I really appreciate it. And they could fit very well with this diorama. They actually performed anti submarine operations from GB and they actually sunk 6 U-boats.
I'm sure if I'm able to fix my Sunderland, I'll paint it with their colours. I loved their history

Miguel VaqueroI've already glued the U-Boat to the acrylic sheet. As the background for the diorama states that the aft reserve torpedo exploded, to hide the cables I made some bubbles coming down from the exploded compartment. It's not the best but it's better than to have some cables seen.

Miguel VaqueroThe acrylic sheets mold is done. The ship is now lifted with nylon cord to place on to the resin without sinking. And the u-Boat is secured in the container.
Next step, the resin pouring. I've never been so nervous about a model.

I ended up making and painting the Sunderland, flying the colors Jay suggested. The end result, I think it's salvageable. I'm wondering if I should put it in the diorama. The downside is ill have to stick it with some transparent acrylic rod. It's going to be visible but not too much. I think if I mask the bottom part of the rod, the one closer to the water, as a droped depth charge from the porcupine, the result might not be bad at all.
What do you guys think

Also thank you and thanks Mr D for you kind words! The good thing about this diorama is that it really doesn't need any special abilities. It's as simple as it can get and it will give you a great result

Well Mr D, the big bubbles coming out of the explosion are mainly produced by the gap a created when cutting the U-Boat. The air trapped inside came to the surface while the resin was curing, and it cured faster than the bubbles could scape to the surface. They as well appear because of the cotton I used to create the explosion effect, but mainly because of the first reason. Also Ill make sure to follow your build. It really sound amazing, and watching your prior work, Im sure it's going to be awesome.
Thank you also Ben!! I'm glad you enjoyed the work. As per the resin, I really used the cheap one from AliExpress. I mixed well the two parts till the resin and hardener were completely clear. Then I poured it and that's it. The instructions said I could pour up to 2 centimeters per pour. I did four centimeters deep at once and it cured great. The only downside I found is that not all small bubbles rised to the surface and couldn't be popped with a torch. I should have poured a little, then torched and then poured the rest. I didn't expect such a Good result from this but guess I got lucky.
