No No, he's not wrong, it was an option back then. Personally I hate leather seats, but unfortunately I didn't have a choice on my Shelby, only leather and it burns the cheeks on a midsummer Texas day ! 😯

I've seen them on a 05-09 Mustang but I liked the Red and White scheme with the black hood on the 1970 Boss.
