I had to cut the poor chap's feet off to get him to fit in the cockpit. I don't know how he will recover from the trauma...

I tried to learn lessons from the first attempt, so I dry-brushed some silver over the engine - doubt anyone will ever see it, but never mind

I used marmite to chip the propeller and the engine cowling - it seemed a bit strange, but it worked...

I used slivers of masking tape coloured with sharpie pens to make some basic belts, I thought they came out OK. I was so upset about cutting the pilot's feet off last time I decided to make this plane ground (well, ship) based instead of in-flight...

I think I should have put a coat of gloss black on before the aluminium colour as it came out a little dull in places, but since I'm only doing it so I can have try at chipping using hairspray anyway, that doesn't really matter.

I have discovered that instead of using hot water to chip the paint after applying hairspray, I could just use Humbrol's decalfix; I should have put a gloss coat down after doing the chipping I now realise, but lesson learned. Some more decals to apply and then some weathering, which I am also still learning how to do.

I fashioned a new aerial from the undercarriage leg from another kit that I didn't use. It's close enough for my requirements, I guess..

Some better photos taken with an actual camera instead of my phone...

Album info
I enjoyed making the 2023 version of this kit so much that I decided to do another one; a quick trawl on eBay found me an original, which I decided to do in a more bruised and battered style... I have totally lost the aerial for the green one, so that's annoying, but maybe it will turn up... Since I did my first one in flight I decided to do the second as it would be on a ship. Next step is to do an F4F Wildcat or something in to sit next to it...
