Sikorsky CH-37C 'Mojave'
Bits and pieces to make the engine pod look like it has an engine in there. Also need some open mesh for the pod covers to replace the solid plastic covers in the kit.
Interesting design so they could use the radial engines. The engineers must have been glad the turbo-jet was finally used instead.
Looks crowded in there, some poetic license will be required to show a bit more of the P&W 2800 engine.
Trying to add some detail in the engine nacelles
Added a real mesh cover to replace the solid simulated mesh plastic piece supplied with kit.
Added a bit of detail in the cargo bay
My side project during any down time with the CH-37
Almost assembly time...
Coming together, all the major engine work is finished. Engine pods still to be glued in place.
To replace the solid plastic 'mesh' panels I ended up choosing a 0.5x0.5mm square, interleaved brass mesh product from Aber (comes in various mesh sizes and various brands). Mesh products are used in the for Ship and Armour hobby building mainly. Then the slow and painful process of attaching thin strips of styrene (being very careful not to get the superglue to fill the mesh holes) to make up the various support bars that run across the mesh. My pattern of bars are a more simplified version of what it really should be, I ran out of patience (and Whiskey!). All model supplies came from my 'local' model shop in Melbourne-BNAmodelworld.

Excited to see what you can do with this thing. I love the CH-37 for how unique and ugly they are. Wish someone makes this in 1/48.

Absolutely lovely! It looks almost like a sci-fi vehicle, very cool! The metal mesh was a great idea, where did you get it?

Thanks Thomas, I have added another photo of the products I used and a explanation in the photo caption, hope it answers your question.
