Album info
Supermarine Spitfire PR.XIX from the A50182 set finished as RM635, 541/542 Squadron, RAF Benson, around the time of D-Day.
On the morning of 21st March 1945, after night rest this Spitfire took off from Melsbrook, Belgium heading back for RAF Benson. For unknown reasons, aircraft crashed at 0935hrs, at Colemans Hatch, near Hartfield, Sussex, England killing the pilot F/Lt Frank P. Adlam (NZ). His remains are buried at Brookwood Military Cemetery.
Build trivia: Painted with AK RC297 PRU Blue. I wanted to portray a D-Day machine, so was planning on using kitsworld.co.uk decals KW172084 but for some strange reasons white letters after application turned out grey and roundels were translucent ? will not be using them again.
