first I have used AK signal red, but it looks more like strawberry - not a fire engine ... for me. 

... so I have used Revell # 36 carmine. 

There are rails to mount a motor pump. 

Now hoses are needed ... 

... corrections and more detailing are necessary. 

Second vehicle - first color samples 

The helmets are kitbashed - donator was ICM # 35632 (German Firemen WWII). French helmets were another type, e.g. there was no neck leather.  

The former ambulance car (left) and the fire truck (right). A fire truck similiar the model of ICM was proven in France! Sgt. G. Ryden had taken a photograph of the fire truck in a depot (Is-sur-Tille, in the near of Dijon) in the year 1919. The photo is property of an image agency.

And that's the latest. 

Colours are drying. 

Still looking too much like a German Fireman - now I've bought French heads with the Adrian Helmet (Hornet & Wolf). 

Almost finished - lamps and curbstones for example will follow, if the facade will be integrated in a diorama. 

Approaching the end - correcting errors - the lamps are drying (filled with Microscale Kristal Klear or wood glue, maybe almost the same. I hope to publish an article on Modellversium in the next weeks.

The helmets are not satisfactory for me. So ... see #48, please. 

... also more French looking heads (Hornet HFH01). Conversions of German Firemen (ICM # 35632) 

New heads, new helmets ... 

... German details have to be cut away ...  

... next will be the painting. I'm studying online-auctions (pompiers, the thirties). There are brass helmets or nickle plated ones. The French uniforms - I've seen - are blue - much brighter than I've expected. I knew only the German ones. They were clearly darker. 

My method: 1. Cut off the old head 2. drill a hole 3. expand the hole to the collar 4. fit in the new head 5. I use a homebrewed putty to fix the new head in the "collarhole" (? -> I hope the word is right, so you can understand). No superglue is needed.
