Derek Gibson
Hello I am Derek Gibson and here is another completed build. It is the ESCI/ AMT Rescue 911 rescue helicopter, which is just the original UH-1D reboxed. It needed ALOT of updating so i found an update for this kit from Fireball modelworks. It is an extremely accurate resin and p.e. kit. Not hard at all to assemble, and if you have the ESCI kit like mine it even comes with corrected side doors. First, I used a walkaround I made of a huey that i seen in a Kansas museum and used that as a base to go with. Second, I went to fireball modelworks and found a decal sheet "UH-1D Slicks in Vietnam". Very accurate as well.... I chose the UH-1H (67-17463) "Black Cats" 282nd assault helicopter company, Late 1968. There was a little "tweeking" of the decals that were used. Deleted "282" on both pilot/ copilot doors, added the 1 7 swords to black nose, red "danger" arrows on tailboom, and instead of red/orange stabilizers they just have a yellow tip like the one that was in my walkaround. The tail rotor linkage came from the 1:35th scale Academy OH-58D Black Death. The one in the kit was hideous and nothing like the real thing. All paints were testors enamel and clearcoats. Main coat is FS 34087 Olive Drab. Hope you enjoy!!
