A perfect Flanker. I like the discolouration of the exhaust heatshields. Very realistic. Which paints did you use?

Good job ... specially the exhausts ....
Bu the way ... which kit do you prefer ? Zvezda or Trumpeter ?

Both kits are really good! Its the same with the Hasegawa kit, which is also really nice. I have all 3 of them in my stash and each one looks really great.

What a lovely build and as the others said; cool paintjob with the alclads!

Great Flanker, Sebastijan, top work!

Thanks guys! Julian - Trumpeter kit has better detailed surface and is a bit easier to build, while Zvezda has much better shape, but is currently available only in SM version. Hasegawa Su-27 is an old kit - still nice but the rear part is way too wide and weapons are a bit off as well. Hase Su-33 and -35S are on the other hand really great kits.

True the Su-35 etc from Zvezda have raised panel lines and arent really good.... Made the mistake and bought some of them......And dont forget the J-11 from Hase Sebastijan which is kind of a Su-27SK😉

Excellent job. Looks great.

thanks Marko
Soeren: yes, unfortunately that Su-35 kit is still from the old Zvezda days - I think the same kit was packed with different Russian manufacturers. Zvezda's latest kits are an entirely new level of quality, I just wished, they would release new variants more quickly - 1 in 2 years is a bit too slow in my opinion.

True but this year should come out some new Su-33 kits from Trumpeter. Better than nothing 🙂

Well, that is true, but I am not holding my breath, really. I have one hase Su-33 in my stash and I will wait for Zvezda's -33, which is scheduled for 2016

Ah new Zvezda Su33 could be interesting! Hopefully we will get then also the other kits with new tools!

Hi Sebastijan, overall how was the fit of Zvezda Su-27 SM? I just bought 3 from ebay.

Thanks guys!
Walamma - the fit was pretty ok... Some fiddly parts around the undercarriage but otherwise nice to build.

How about the Su-33 from Kinetic (ex Aviation Art) in 1 48? 👍
27 November 2015, 20:57
Sebastijan Videc
1:48 is really not my scale (too big for my living space and the lack of display shelved) although I am tempted by it...

Buy it, it will be THE kit for the year. Considering I made myself a promise not to buy anything due to enough models I've got in my stash.

Last month I have just completed the Hesagawa 1:72 SU-35S, great kit and fit but I did end up breaking one of exhaust nozzel since it was tight fit (especially after painting first then assembly). Never the less, managed to fixed the problem and everything ends well.

Nice to hear that! That Su-35S model is really great!

So how would you say it compares to Hasegawa Su-27/35 kits?. I feel the Zvezda kit has more finer detail and most likely is cheaper in most countries too! Hasegawa needs to lift it's game i think? And add more finer detail or lower their prices! Too much competition these days 🙂

Glenn - Hasegawa's Su-35S in a great kit and the only thing out of the box, that I spotted wrong, was the shape of the canopy - it being too pointy (the same as with their Su-33 kit). You can't go wrong with any of these 2. Hase Su-27 on the other hand is an old kit and while a great kit in its day, has many shape issues, the main one being the too wide rear fuselage. Zvezda on the other hand doesn't provide much detail (no plumbing in wheel way bays, no rivet detail) but on the other hand is the most accurate, cheaper than Hasegawa (and Trumpeter), quite easy to build and in my opinion provides better base for a super detailing. Problem is, however, that they released (apart recently the Su-33) only the upgraded Su-27SM variant, which has several differences compared with the baseline Su-27 (like an offset IRST), but the design of the kit promises the release of other variants as well.

Yea! I don't think you can go too wrong with the new Zvezda kits these days! They look pretty good and the price is pretty good too! Kits from the asian market are getting too expensive! Trumpeter, Hasegawa, Tamiya etc!
