Answer: wheel tires sanded and colored, but disk - uncolored (preprinted) paper from magazine.
About thickness and others about printing from web - do not waste your time and energy for such bulshit.
Better - got a real original typography printed original from Halinski.
Ane model 2003+ is perfectly designed, colored and weathered.
It's a real pleasure to build it

I SHOULD to say it. Because in paper models you are really highly dependent on manufacturer's work. You can't change colors and have very low possible ways to correct mistakes.

In plastic that is possible with lots of hard work.
But i fully agree with Jens, only a master like you can achieve such fantastic results!!! if most of use were to try one of those, i doubt we would get even close 🙂

I agree, and I think what I am hearing/reading, is that a well-designed paper model is an important ingredient in a great-looking build model. This is less (on how much less depends on which modeler you talk to😉 ) important, as Spanjaard pointed out, with plastic models, as we can sand/shape/correct the kit.

However, and I speak from some experience here, a great looking paper model still requires a level of skill to come out as well as Evgeny's, and I think this is what Jens and Spanjaard are pointing out. I agree with them completely 👍.

@Evgeny: just to expand on my earlier question - I absolutely agree that buying a professionally printed paper model is the way to go. I am looking to build some 1970-80 paper models published in the Czech ABC magazine (one of the publications that started the paper model hobby), and these are unfortunately only available as downloads. Before you ask "why": it's a nostalgia thing for me (I build them as a kid). So, just looking for a recommendation from a pro regarding the best material. I used an 10 mil (.010 inch) HP matte photo paper, but it seems to be a bit thick.

I understood 🙂 Nostalgia - really not bad reason 🙂
Try to use Lomond 170 Matt \ matt double sided Inkjet PhotoPaper.
When I used home inkjet printer (it was many years ago) - this paper was the best choise. And this paper cheap - it was important for me at that time🙂
