OK... I see I have no future in modelling if people like you carry on building wuih such level of detail and accuracy. Time to go back to stamp collecting...
I join all the others, FANTASTIC build and very impressive display, Congratulations!!
Outstanding! The dio looks lovely, the intro/summary text is very cool 🙂 I share the same admiration to the shape of the Backfire, but I couldn't describe it so well 👍
Very nice, fantastic, outstanding, fabulous, amazing... I have no words. Congrats!
Opako, bas opako. Pratio sam rad i na Maketarskom kutku...razvalio si ga! Bravo!
Amazing work Aleksandar! 👍👍
Very impressive, really like the boarding ladders (scaffolding 🙂)
It must be a giant dio! It is awesome! Those ladders are a piece of art on themselves!
I just went back and looked at the build log on this one. Even more impressed!
Thank you so much, your kind words are very appreciated! This was the most ambitious build for me so far and I am really stoked by the result.
Cheers,
Aleks
This is just magnificent, nothing here suggests it's all in 72nd scale, cockpit, figures, weathering and those ladders. What an effort.
Simply stunning! Even the access platforms are works of are in themselves!
Amazing! The diorama for that beast is fitting. Where did you get the ladders?
BIG thanks to you all, once again! 🙂 Bryn the ladders are from North Star Models- you can find them in my Project Inventory. There's also an album dedicated only to them, I hope you saw it.
Urban, the base was a bit of a work as well. I was initially planning to align everything with a rectangular base, which would be easier, but then decided for a more dynamic and visually interesting lookto and arrange it all diagonally. All the edges of the PAG-14 plates needed to be individually sanded and the hoisting grooves opened (see the images in "Tu-22M3 Finished Model & Diorama" album) to produce more realistic look. But the end result was worth the extra effort I think.
Cheers,
Aleks
Amazing job, such high-level consistence in all aspects & details... great albums & build history, thx for all the documentation and inspiration 🙂 It´s something to look up to!
Congrats Aleksandar 🙂 well deserved Gold medal at Lingen
It was a pleasure to meet you there 👍
At the weekend I had a chance to see this dio live in Lingen and I agree the two last posts. Not only the Tu-22 but the truck is a true masterpiece too.
It was a real pleasure to meet lot of friends in Lingen, enjoy some great modeling, get feedback from you guys and "recharge my hobby batteries" so to say! An outstanding weekend and great result for the OKB!😉
Thanks much!
Aleks
Seen it live at EME in Lingen. Fantastic build and arrangement. The Gold Medal was well deserved!
Ahaha, my inner child is really liking this. The whole thing is stunning, in a positive way. 🙂
Fantastic! I hope you will show it someday at a model expo. Congrats!
The realism and amount of details is beyond my comprehension ... 😮 Outstanding artwork 👍
I don't know how you're not insane after looking at that PE work! Amazing and well done!
Forgive my ignorance, but being un familiar with this kit. 🙁
Are the mobile gantrys scratch built or part of the kit. ?
Either way, the depth of reality is something stunning. 👍
Wonderful result. 😉
Thanks everybody for your great feedback and sorry for my prolonged absence!
Kerry, the boarding platforms are indeed a separate kit by North Star Models. You can find more about building these little things in my album here: Tu-22M Boarding Ladders | Album by Šeki (1:72)
impressive and so well executed ! I am trying to rebuit my old Tu 22 M2 from ESCI, can I ask what paint did you use for the upper surface ?
Aleksandar breath taking work Sir. I really love the dio work. Top job.
!! Excellent superb more pics please ! will you make an article for a step by step ?
Simply Superb! Inspirational for sure, congratulations on this masterpiece!
Thanks a lot mates! 😄 Looking back, this was a massive project. Still a lot of these big beasts in the stash to build...
@ Pierre Vauthier - be careful what you wish for... If you are not scared of some excessive ramblings, here's a building blog for this chunk of plastic:

Gosh this is such STUNNING work. Makes me wanna pack up and quit now! Ha! Ha! Jaw dropping stuff indeed! 👏👏
Patience, dexterity and determination pays off. !
How sweet it is. 👍 👍 🙂
The outcome of your paint work and construction is very good.
incredible result of that mean machine. Put solidly on the ground. Great choice of vehicles and figures that add a lot to appreciate the dimension of this plane. Thanx for the link to the build blog.
This is definitely one of those builds you never tire of looking over.
The plane is one thing. ! But the support equipment is something else. This detail is just wonderful to enlarge and ponder. I love it all. 🙂 👍
OMG, this is absolute masterclass modeling. The weathering is some of the best I have ever seen and the paintwork on those concrete slabs is breathtaking. This diorama is just pure pleasure to look at for a long time!
Your model is the reason why I also ordered the plane. 😄 The design of the old Russians I find anyway great and then built in this quality. Wow!
Unfortunately I can't find the ladders anywhere. 😭
Hello, I am currently building the Tu 22m3 1/72 from Trumpeter and I have noticed that some of the colors in the instructions are completely wrong. Can you please help me and tell me which Mr Hobby colors I can use for the landing gear boxes (both front and the two rear ones), but also which colors I can use for the Kh 15 rockets and for the rocket cabin.
Thank you very much!

This is a small step for mankind, but a glorious one for my workbench – I finished a model!
Tupolev 22m3 is one of those iconic machines that bridges the past with future, from the Cold War to Global Warming and beyond… The most appealing aspect of Soviet aircraft for me is that mix of medieval roughness and aerodynamic elegance that they possess. Tu-22m3 is a point in case looking like a sensible fusion of an inquisition device and a starship.
This Trumpeter kit covers a sizeable real-estate even as a “small scale”, but not using its sheer bulk as the only attribute to impress is the real trick here. I tend to diverge from the beaten path and roam the backcountry on most of my builds, so saying that this one was special in this regard wouldn’t be fair. But it was certainly one of the most epic such journeys for me. The Tu kit is of the particular kind (dare I say typical of this Chinese manufacturer) that challenges you regardless of how closely you follow the assembly instructions, or sometimes exactly fo
