Construction
Scratchbuilt part, inspired by the game.
Driver's hatch, one part is missing, but should still look fine.
First smoke canister, these things are tiny!
Canisters are done. Next come viewing hatches as the one on bottom left. As they need a plastic sheet to act as glass, painting will be tricky.
Continuing with PE
PE work continues, added meshes and lots of small hooks all over the place. A few pieces are already forever lost
Almost done, only a few details left, maybe another day. Will leave the top+bottom unglued for now, so I can still remove the driver's and commander's hatch to fit the glass after painting.
Replacing thick plastic extrusions by PE from Eduard. Making the pieces to stick and stay vertical is a challenge.
Primed in light grey
Steel! Took a while to find the courage to fill the apartment with Alclad smell. I think the result is worth it, though I'm unimpressed by a few details that could have used more sanding. Lesson for next time.
The wheels didn't stop at steel. I misted all of them lightly with alu (also Alclad), making sure to mist them differently to introduce slight variation in shade.
First masking + paint. A bit too colorful, but that shall be fixed soon.
Lots of masking later, base paint is done!
After removing masking, the "Backbone of the Army" presents itself
Not too bad, dare I say.
Not even close to done, but motivation returns.

I've been told one can fairly easily mod the kit to replicate the tilting function. I don't know how though. I'll probably try that with my kit at some point later.

Nice, didn't know that. I'm not planning to try, given I'm making a version based on an old computer game, where the tank never tilted.
Once you do it, will be following along!

If I remember correctly, the trailing arms have pegs that fit into slots. Just remove the pegs and the trailing arms can move freely and be glued in the tilted position.

Today was marked by making smoke canisters from Eduard's PE set. I hope they will be well visible, because that was a lot of effort.

It's been a while, but finally managed to move past the construction phase. I'm especially curious, how the viewports will turn out.

Wow, didn't notice it's been almost 2 months. The base layer paint is now done, bottom in Alclad steel, top in 3-color blue camouflage. Turned out ok.

A worthy monument to the Batte Isle series Technotrax 👍 - the camo turned out seriously cool, the choice of the contrast color & the sharp execution over all the details look top notch! Hope to see this live one day😉

Good thing you ditched the overall blue for this eye-catching splinter camo! Nice colour selection and masking.

Very cool result, you can always assume the screen resolution in BI2 was too weak to show such a detailed camo 😄

Łukasz - that's exactly what I had in mind 🙂
Thanks everyone, hope to continue this good streak with the next series of photos, should include the wheels (ready) and tracks (still only primed). Still have a lot to learn, but many projects on this site continue to be a great inspiration.

Nicely done. This vehicle often causes arguments over "is it a tank?" I fall on the "No" side of the question because it lacks a turret. More in line with a tank destroyer, in the StuG evolution path. Still, it is a highly effective weapon system that it lethal, hard to detect/engage (due to its low profile) and is mobile. AKA the golden armor triangle of Fire power - Armor protection - Mobility. Well suited to its Nations defensive posture and environment.
