What kind of metal was used for the landing gear parts? Looks like maybe a little hollow.
I think I would use a clear acrylic rod and not metal for showing the tomcat up in the air, somehow the metal rod in photo 9 stands out too much. Or, maybe a thinner metal rod could also work.

to Treehuger, I used stainless steel tubes to represent the gear oleos. As for the supporting pole, steel tube is better than acrylic rod since it is rigid and has sufficient strength

The second try with landing gears. I used thin steel tubes as the backbone of the shock strut, and thick ones as shock absorber slide tubes.
