Final.
bulk of the construction is done, bits and pieces to glue.
commander's cupola has clear parts, some masking will be needed.
turret left side (gunner?) vision port has missing instructions, the clear part has to be combined with part B 27, otherwise it's gonna float.

had to go uncle night shift on this one with reluctance but i had no choice due to only turret and hull underside (wth!?) having cast surface texture and weld marks. IDF early mk.5 walkarounds came really helpful.
cast surface was done with gunze mr 500 surfacer + cellulose thinner + something that used to be a brush.
weld marks are not noticeable i know for i simply used stretched sprue NOT epoxy putty. softened em with glue and scored with hobby knife.

this will be the camo. apart from this illustration there are absolutely no photos of these vehicles from their early deployment at West Germany however Mr. Beldam is a respectable source when it comes to Canadian armor so i take it as is.
of course the colors shown here are very high contrast, just substitute them with MASSTER or MERDC colors.

started off with the darkest camo color, brown over tamiya flat aluminum.
brown is a mix of vallejo model color leather+earth+cavalry brown 5:5:1 thinned with it's own airbrush thinner than with cellulose thinner, about 10% of the total mix.
next stop is going to be green.

Green on.
vallejo model color reflective green + ww2 russian uniform, 3:2. thinned same as brown. it went on finer as expected, rather i prefer light overspray over a dark color, reason why i like to start with the darkest color and go towards lights if going freehand.
2 down, next stop will be stone.

except the gun mantlet paintjob is complete.
stone: vallejo model color medium grey+tan earth 2:1
grey: pale greyblue+silvergrey 1:1
both thinned as usual
tamiya nato black on the bore evacuator and raf dark green for the hull bottom.

time to do the highlights for all colors one by one...
faded all the camo colors one by one, mixing the colors with vallejo panzer aces light mud and silvergrey in various amounts, heavily thinned of course and with as low the psi could go. airbrush was mostly operating in a sprinkler fashion rather than atomizing the paint...
afterwards brush painted the gun mantlet and details here and there, no highlights yet.
post shaded with tamiya smoke+nato brown.
finally dusted a very light coat of light mud allover to unify it a little bit more.

tricky bit is how to tackle the exhausts and their shrouds now.
first things first tho, next stop will be decals and possibly a semi gloss coat to seal it all before the exhausts, highlights and oil paints.

weathering of the hull and running gear are mostly complete. couple of things to fix & to fine tune here and there.
except highlighting with acrylics there is no work on the turret so far. you can see a subtle difference between two.
everything else so far are entirely done with acrylics and oils with brushwork. only pigments are on the roadwheels and tracks, which are going to receive a bit love with oils later on unfortunately the rubber band blues we all know very well is an issue. upside is most of em will be covered with sideskirts... 🙁

Nice! I'm working on a similar camouflaged Centurion at the moment, except I only have black and white picture to work with. Nice work on yours so far!

Here is mine Murad, still very much work in progress but the main camouflage colours are on. This is an experimental camouflage used by the Dutch army in the late 60's. [img1]

Top build with excellent paint work, shading and weathering. Not to forget the tanker who brings the model to life .....

ok folks calling er done.
figure is from the spares box, body is probably a trumpeter, head and beret is dragon.
a lot more could be done in terms of weathering, especially around the tracks and the running gear however the bane of armor modeling: rubber band tracks said otherwise because believe me i'd tried everything i could but no paint nor pigments stick to these little é!'^+%&... the moment they see either force from the tip of the brush or a liquid they release. alas i had to stop in order keep things uniform, as much as they could be.
long story short a good kit overall however
* be cautious with the instructions
* get some aftermarket tracks
* be cautious with the instructions and make sure the chevrons on your aftermarket tracks are looking at the correct direction, ie opposite of mine here. 🙂
thanks for watching.
