New Airscrew for the 1:8 Fokker Dr.I
Some thicker wood stripes, mahogany and alder tree.
It develops strong forces while the glue dries!
In side view.
The carved airscrew.
With metal parts from kit.
With varnish it looks much better!
And mounted on the Dr.I, which hangs in our living room.
violinmaker's plane
The mouth opening can be adjusted, besides the knife of course.
Mouth full open.

Thank you mates!
This was done long ago, today I would try another kind of the dark wood. Here it is mahogany which is very hard and has some strong grain.
It was mainly shaped with a little violinmaker's plane (I added new pics). But because the wood is so hard, I got a fat blister on my finger, despite wearing work gloves.
I'm still in quarantine with Corona, but slowly coming back. What is irritating at the moment is my loss of smell. I hope I'm not mixing up the thinners for the different paints! 😉
I hope to be able to continue building the Camel Comic again shortly.

Some years after finished model I decided to replace the plastic airscrew by a new wooden one.
