A big WOW from me too 👍
I like how the stamp is integrated into the dio.
Beautiful. I like it a lot. and the guy is standing there like "no worries" 🙂
Thanks everyone, much appreciated.... it was a challenging build (and sometime tedious too, lots of sawing and sanding of parts), but I enjoy the subject and its history.
I can only second all the praise. My kinda stuff. Brilliantly executed. Which figure is this?
Love the way the penguins look at the humans..
All in all a brilliant result !
Thank you everyone for your kind words! @Michael Kohl, the figure and penguins came with the kit.
Simply brilliant. The set design, the composition, the fantastic quality of painting and weathering and topped off with great presentation.
Album info
In 1958 Sir Vivian Fuchs (1908 – 1999) led the Commonwealth Trans Antarctic Expedition and made history when he successfully completed the first crossing of Antarctica via the South Pole. Using Tucker Sno-Cat tractors, the traverse took 59 days across difficult terrain replete with huge hidden crevasses.
"We'd scarcely set off before we ran into trouble. This was the first deep crevasse, just 25 miles from Shackleton. Leading from the front, Sno-Cat "Rock 'n Roll" became jammed nose first in the far wall. In such cases recovery was a long and skilled manoeuvre and often seemed impossible, but our engineers always figured out a way to haul our vehicles to safety." - from "The Crossing of Antarctica", Thames and Hudson, Sept. 16 2014, p. 140.
