English Electric Canberra P1098 of the Indian Air Force, intended to look as she looked in the early-to-mid 2000s. After serving with the Royal Air Force from 1954 to 1969 (as a Canberra PR.7), she was modernized and exported to India in 1971 as one of the the last two photo reconnaissance Canberras received. She was also one of the last two Indian Canberras (and the very last PR.57) to be retired in 2007, from 106th squadron. Another PR.57, with the serial IP990, which survived a missile hit in 1999 during the Kargil war, crashed on 19 December 2005, causing the remaining fleet of only two aircraft to be grounded.
India was the largest export customer of the type (not counting the USA), acquiring a total of 126 examples between 1957 and 1971, including second-hand aircraft from the UK and some from Australia. 12 of these were of the photo reconnaissance variant. The first PR.57s arrived in 1958.
