Challenger 2

Challenger 2 of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, 7th Armoured Brigade in the 1990's.

This is the Hobby Craft release of the 2002 Trumpeter kit (00308) that received poor reviews and was abandoned by Trumpeter. Trumpeter sold the casting molds to Airfix and then Hobby Craft in 2003-2004. Trumpeter subsequently released a re-dsigned Challenger 2 kit (00323) in 2003. The kit has its challenges.

I added rubber flaps to the front and rear of the chassis bottom to reduce profile signature. The camouflage netting is from AFV Club ( Extra Thin Camouflage Net (AC35021)) painted with tones of grey and shaped with diluted white glue.

Primed with flat black enamel. Painted with Mission Models MMP-106 Bronze Green British AFV and MMP-039 British Modern Sand Yellow AFV. Weathered with oils washes and pastel powders.

The base is plaster of Paris coated in acrylic paint and covered with Woodland Scenics “Earth” ground cover and baking soda. Dried flowers were used for vegetation.
