Personal Interest:
This model represents the Delta III rocket, which was used twice during my tour at CCAS. Launched from SLC-17B, both the initial and second flight failed. The third and final launch of the Delta III in 2000 (which occurred after my tour) also failed, ending the Delta III program.
- Delta III Galaxy 10 PanAmSat / Intelsat (1998-08-27), command-destroyed on guidance failure
- Delta III Orion 3 Loral (1999-05-05), second stage engine failure
