Thank you Dietmar. More pics to come, just finished the engine & tender body painting, getting ready for the camo finish. We'll see how that turns out.

Nice work so far. I enjoyed building this kit although spraying the camo wasn't easy.

Gorby - what was your approach to the camo. My thinking is to keep the engine/tender separate from the undercarriage, paint the camo and then assemble. This should minimize any retouching of the undercarriage, keeping it black.

I built it all and only then thought about painting it. 😄
Probably not the best way but it worked out in the end. Leaving the underside gubbins off might be a better/easier way to go about it.
Incidentally, I remember that the painting instructions only show one side view which make it a pain to work out what the other side should look like. I checked online and if it helps this is my build: Gorby's loco (but you knew that anyway). | Album by gorby (1:72)

Just remembered, the only thing I didn't fit before painting was the two side shield things at the front.

Looked over your finished model, very nice. Noticed the red parts and the addition of the flak gun on the back, nice touch. Liked the camo too. Again, very nice job. Did it ever get into the dio that you were thinking of doing. I too plan to create one, but in the future. Regarding the side shields, I plan to attach them and then do the camo.

Yes I did add it to a diorama at a later date: In the last six months I could have achieved great things. I did this instead. | Album by gorby (1:72)
It won't be easy to paint the sides of the boiler if you attach the shields before painting.

Gorby - looked over your dio, great job. I too have the Morser Karl completed and considered including it in a dio. I have the HobbyBoss munitions transport vehicle too, but not built.
Question - where did you get all the figures?
Regarding the shields, I came to that conclusion too, so they will be added after.

The decals in the kit are just Delta Sierra - creepy offsets of the white substrate and they fall apart in the water. I'...

I had not understood before why artists draw "Blochs" "crookedly", but it turns out that they themselves are not quite straight 🙂

I can only think this is to offset the propwash hitting the vertical tail fin in order to allow the aircraft to fly straight. Most modern training aircraft now have the tail fin offset to counteract the corkscrewing air of the propeller hitting it, lessening the pressure required on the pedals to keep the aircraft straight with a lot of right rudder.

Slackbladder, yes, you're right. The engine is offset from the longitudinal axis so that the aircraft is not pulled to the right by torque. Modeling is a constant source of new knowledge for me, and it's great!

Duster_d, but it works only at a certain power range. Normally the increased left turning tendency with large power changes, e.g. during take off or when performing a go-around, due to prop wash (and the p-factor) is counteracted with applying right rudder pedal. Mounting the prop shaft with such an extreme angle to me seems more like a sign of trying to fix to a flawed aerodynamic design. But man, your French camo paint job looks perfect!

I missed this one so far. Joining.
Nearly all single engine prop planes have eigher the engine build in with an angle or an asymetric / angled profile at the vertical stabilizer. As Thomas said it works just at one power seting and speed (normaly for cruise speed and cruise power), so at every other setting you have to use the peddals or the rudder trim. I also noticed that some french planes get it to the extreme with the angle of the engine like your Bloch ore the Morane Rally series.

OK, regarding the displacement of the engine from the longitudinal axis of this "Bloch", yes, the displacement by 2.5 degrees did not help much, and the designers had to redo the tail anyway.

It's a shame you are (once again!) let down by bad-quality decals... really pity... :/

Colours are awful and not accurate, these parts can work you just need to paint them the right colours. That sounds counter intuitive but what I mean is they can be stained with acrylic paint and altered to a more realistic hue. If I had an alternative I would have chosen it.

Very nice. I'd go for the green Skoda and the 037. Would be interesting to read a word or two on the kits you used and maybe even the experiences you had with them.
