My Father was assigned to the only F3D-2B ever built. He loved that plane. It was a special weapons test bed so he ended up in a lot of different places. He was a Marine on loan to the Navy from VMFn-533.

A surprisingly good old Matchbox kit, just needs a bit of TLC.

I love it when someone does such a great job on one of the old classic kits. The Skyknight was a beast - and the Matchbox kit is about all you have in 1:72 scale. And to think that a derivation of the Skyknight, the XF6D Missileer, was almost selected as the Fleet Interceptor which eventually went to the F-14 Tomcat. I think only Anigrand makes a Missileer kit - it would look good sitting next to your Skyknight!

Thanks for the kind words. After watching a "Dogfights" episode involving a Skyknight and a MiG I just had to build it and this was the only choice at the time.
