Hello everyone - thanks for your intereest. I must admit that this is not a very exiting build, but thanks for yor interest - will to the painting this weekend and I just checked the decal sheet,....uuuii, there are plenty tiny stickers to be placed.

I had trouble with the front landing gear on this kit breaking. I don't know if was just a fluke or if the mold is too thin. It may need reinforcement.

And you are right - the more colourful livery is way more interessting (application of decals 🙂 - but also to look at it when done). I will up-date the other Album soon.

I am building 2 of those revel kits in parallel - both front landing gears broke already right after taking it from the sprue.... so thx for your advice, I hope other mates receive this info to take precaution.

I got this kit for a reduced price on a flea-market - due to the fact that the cockpit and seat were missing. The former owner spoiled it or put it aside - I don't know exactly. But it wouldn't be me not taking this challenge. Lets go and scratch an Eurofighther cockpit...

As the cockpit is done I have to catch up with the Eurofighter Typhoon - "Austrian Typhoons" 7L*WB | Album by jott (1:72) build which is almost done. Beside livery the kit is 1:1 the same, so making up leeway isn't that hard I hope.

Nice work so far! I had the same issue with the warped vertical stabiliser on this kit.

Just checked the newer Revell Eurofighter (Ghost Tiger box). It seems to have the same problem with the stabiliser 🙁

Stripped gold plating from wheels and exhaust. Not sure whether to use chrome on the wheels or paint them white.
Painted body Tamiya Racing Blue. Paint stand fell apart, which caused the body to fall while the paint was still wet. After letting the paint dry, I wet sanded the body and re-sprayed. A couple of drips from the re-spray requires another round of wet sanding. Wheels were painted white to match the intended color of the stripes.

This won't be in FAA colours as I don't have any more FAA decals for this era of phantom so it's going to have to RAF.

Hi Dave pain in the but when something like this happens to paint..?
It's all a learning curve.
I snapped a canopy in two recently.
Don't let it put you off, Velejo paints are very reliable and don't let you down.
I purchase a basic colours set when l first set out and never looked back.

Shame about the crazing as the model was looking very good. Do you know if it was the paint or the top coat which cracked?

Mr D , nothing puts me off, as you say it's all a learning curve. Gorby, I "think" it was too heavy a paint coat,. I've stopped using pure acrylics. I now use Tamiya acrylics thinned 50/50 or more with cellulose thinners (and a mask) gives a super smooth finish and no primer needed to key

I've not heard of Tamiya acrylics being thinned with cellulose before. Normally I use the Tamiya thinners and find that works very well.

If you thin with cellulose (and leave it for a few hours) it breaks the particles down and gives a ridiculously smooth finish as well as etching into the plastic.

It's bit to Harsh for modeling Cellulose.
Isopropanol alcohol or Tamiya thinner is better and safer.
Cracking can happen if X2 paint coats are drying at quite different times.

Whatever works for you…with pure acrylics I've had issues with " lifting" ymmv. Just don't try it with anything other than Tamiya. Tamiya is NOT a proper acrylic . "Proper" ie water based acrylics just turn to jelly 😉
BTW the FAA phantom was done with Tamiya acrylics thinned with Tamiya thinners.

Wow! That's quite the save. 👍🏼 Really nice repaint. 👍🏼 I like using lacquers like Mr. Color, MRP or SMS and occasionally thin Tamiya 'acrylics' with lacquer thinner as well. They spray fabulously and if I need to touch up anything I just come in with brushes and use water or acrylic thinner as to have the same color.
