Are you planning to put in some floors and ceilings, perhaps made of cardboard? This would prevent identical lighting conditions behind all the windows and perhaps make it look even more realistic.

Chris T. AnWelcome to all. @bughunter: for this pilot project (it's my first building) I won't be using any interior fittings (ceilings and walls) or lighting. It's mainly about testing whether the construction works without any problems and how something like this could look when finished. For my colleague, who drew and printed it in 3D, it's also the first time he's tried something like this and he needs feedback.
Let's see if and how I can create curtains. Because that's all you can see on a bright day when you look into a building from the outside.

Adam GudynowskiSo with this model I'm trying something new. With my daughter we are painting(?) this model with AK acrylic markers. As base we used Gunze C Tan. To be honest I'm very pleased with the result. After second coat it gives nice, smooth, well-covering finish. Much much better than any brush. It's excellent for kids.

Well done for involving your daughter. I've notice quite a lot of Salemates members mentioning their daughters trying modelling, but I haven't seen many sons giving it a go.

Spanjaardthanks Alexander, the markings are the fantastic set of dry transfers F-4J Phantom II (HobbyDecal AL48001V1, 1:48) , it takes quite some time and patience to place those 1000+ stencils, and the big ones like the "NAVY" and the bunny are intimidating, since they are truly make or brake, in fact I had an issue with the A of one of the "NAVY" ones but managed to get it to look decent

gorbyThanks Jennifer I'm glad you like it/them. Don't forget I can't claim credit for the Scarab cab as that was the basic kit which started all this nonsense. 🙂
Incidentally there were quite a few different types of Invacar based on a similar design. This is the one I was mostly aware of in the 1970's 80's.

Which kit is it the Airfix or the Tamiya?

The kit is the Airfix 1/772 Gr.7/9. It's a fun and easy build. Good fit overall, good detail for the price and scale, good weapons, cockpit and decals.
I have the Tamiya Harrier and it's an older kit Italeri kit reboxed for the Japanese market. Raised panel lines, much less detail overall so, not even close to the newer Airfix.

Paul JamesDo not worry about the cover comment. We are all learning - especially me! I think your kit and tracks are awesome - maybe like me you can start to use putty to make cover - rolling pin, talc + your skill = excellent cover!

With painted wheels and some washing the cart looks much nicer. See the nice rims! No aftermarket resin wheels required :)

bughunterBen, I collected a lot of pictures from walkarounds, museum pages, Flickr and so on.
I must say (even I have only decals for the 6024) the 6023 in the "National Museum of the United States Air Force" in Dayton, Ohio is in a much better, more original state. It uses a original cart. See the gallery with 21 photos on the official museum page: nationalmuseum.af.mi..onnell-xf-85-goblin/
The 6024 in Nebraska is on a simple steel frame, no winglets, the hook looks strange. Seems to be polished, without all the nice stenciling. Seems to be trimmed for a nice look, but not very original.

John BallmanThis conversion set is not well cast, If Cutting Edge / Meteor Productions is 3rd generation, I consider this to be 2nd generation casting. It provides a injection molded Canopy, straight from the Hasegawa kit, Attic probably ordered these back when HOBICO was a US source for Hasegawa parts. The decals are printed on standard decal sheet for a ink-jet printer, not super quality. Directions are in paper and a CD rom is provided.
The kit requires a donor kit, a 1/32 Hasegawa F-16A/C would be your best starting point. The resin fuselage is split top and bottom halves, just like the Hasegawa kit, however my parts where extremely warped and or broken upon arrival to Casa La Ballman. Using those parts as I guide, I tried to use the 1/32 ACE F-16XL kit and the 1/32 F-16A/C kit to provide the parts to stretch the fuselage. Although it is a copy of the Hasegawa kit, it is not as dimensionally correct with this conversion. So, the parts didn't match up as well as I intended. Not sure if I was the problem or not. I ended up trashing what I had accomplished including all the ACE parts. I kept all the Hasegawa parts like intakes and landing gear, tails, exhausts for the time I circle back to this project.
Next time I revisit this project I will be using two Hasegawa kits for donors. So far, I've been able to get those on Ebay for decent prices below $50.00. There are prices on Ebay that are ridiculous (over $100.00) for a kit whose tooling is over forty years old. I'm also looking at getting individual fuselage parts from the Academy kit on Ebay. These may be a better alternative to the Hasegawa kits. There are Sellers that just sell parts or sprue trees for a less expensive way of getting replacement parts. It would be a way to do a two-seater if you want with that option. Your mileage may vary.
