@Lex Jassies the googles are from tamiya kits in recent years, they are clear parts.
@Antony Merigot , I learnt figure painting from youtube , you can search guide video there. Many people making guidance are way better than me.

One of the nicest finishes I've seen in a while. Weathering is awesome and really looks good up close and gives a great ambience overall to it.

I didn't like the exaggerated texture of the wood on the boards.

This build just keeps getting better and better! I love the nice touch of the sheep. IMHO, the wood looks right to me, I don't think they process and paint wood for fencing for farms, but then again, I'm not a farmer. 😀

Those sheep are amazing. I often find model animals to look like toys due to the fur. But these sheeps are brilliantly done. 🙂 Rui S also has a brilliant looking horse which comes to mind.

As for me, I want to thank Mr James and CaptGPF for your kind words. Apreciated.
I've never made any sheep, but I hope that when I do, I'll be able to achieve at least, half the great quality of this Eric's sheep 👍
So far I have done a bird, a chicken and its chick, a German Shepherd and a horse. I'm currently doing another dog.

It is indeed a difficult exercise to paint animals. I tried several techniques and finally I succeeded in this work with oil paintings by gradually going from the darkest to the lightest and with a succession of washes

@Skyhiker I have an inexpensive soldering iron from an electronics store. It is nothing special, but the best thing I have is liquid soldering flux. Using that allows the solder to grab the surface and stick without requiring too much heat or flooding the area with solder.
@gorby Being a jeweller helped at first. But now I am finding that the modelmaking is helping me be a better jeweller! 👍

Excellent progress. I have finally received, and am about halfway through reading, William's excellent book. To those interested in how he does what you see in this album, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. I am certainly planning to incorporate many of his techniques into my own scratchbuilt projects. How he does what he does in 1:144 scale is still a mystery to me (although the book supplies hints 😉), but they are applicable across any scale really. Well done!

Hi Erik, cheers! Sometimes I just use a tiny dab of water to hold parts while I am test fitting them or getting ready to glue. The capillary action holds the parts while I'm swapping hands from tweezers to glue. Since I started doing that, I've spent 75% less time on the floor looking for lost parts. Other times I make a simple holding jig from scrap plastic to align parts. It saves a ton of time and frustration.

Thank you all for watching. Alex, I also saw the Grand Models kit for the M18, but I was frightened from some build reviews, there is a lot of rework to do on that kits. I have now the same or a bit more work, but I got the 3D file for free from Thingiverse.
I am really not a Pro in sratch building but I will try to engrave some panel lines and add some more greeblies to the plane. The 3D file is very poor in details.

Robert, you can have a look to the Grand Models resin kits. I am much more disappointed that there is no kit in 1:72 and no 3D file of a PZL 106 Kruk. I would spend some money on that because it would fit perfect to the Dromader and Cmelák.

Actually, that is something that makes me angry too - I would love to see (and buy) decent kits of "Wilga" and "Kruk" (not mentioning PZL M-15 "Belphegor" 😉 )... but apparently no Polish manufacturers are interested in preparing these.

Guys... let's look a bit at the bright side: who would have thought a few years ago that one day (today!) there would be kits of the Cmelak, the Dromader, the Grumman AgCat (in both 1:72 & 1:48!!!), the Piper Pawnee?! Some are short-run, some are cast-resin, some are 3D-files-to print - nevertheless, something is slowly moving towards that direction! So, yes, I do hope too there will be someday a Kruk available in 1:72 or a Belphegor! And your buys of such kits and your modelling work proves that there's some interest in such topics! Keep it up! 👍

Robert, I can understand that it is confusing, but in the GDR, "Dromedar" was actually used. This is the German translation of the word. Feel free to search for pictures of it, here would be an example: [img1]

It is not easy to find out with which lettering the excavator was delivered in the color used in the respective year of construction. I'll have to see which decals I print out.

Thanks. It has some fitting problems between upper and lower halves; apart from that, it's ok, although not very accurate: a lot of missing panels and venting grid due to over-simplification; for example, the grids below the intakes are decals!

Lots of seamlines;
Some sink marks;
Clear instructions;
Parts clearly marked;

I plan to build this car as sub-assemblies (chassis, engine and body/coachwork.
I have spend some time getting all the parts off that the chassis comprise of, stripped off the chrome of the specific parts and painted everything. While working on and painting the floor pan and radiator cover, I also painted the rest of the body panels.
That being said, lets build the chassis.

Richard and Stephan, thank you for the time taken to comment and your kind words.
Richard, yes I also love the larger scale cars. I am happy to hear that you found this build report helpful. Two aspects of the Mefistofele that is now on the bench that I find is taxing on me is the engine wiring (which I finished) and the drive chain (in process). The end result makes it worthwhile. Italeri's offerings are not "shake and bake" kits 🙂

This is a very beautiful and impressive finish! The production process was fun as it was like watching an actual car being assembled.

Great stuff! Compared to us in the EU, the visitors seem much younger. 👍
Picture 269 confuses me a bit - is model making a school subject in China?

Yes George, Modeling is a relative minority hobby here in China. Comparing to military model or civil model, Anime and manga model is more popular, like GUNDAM or Garage kits. But I do see more and more new brands and new products, and more young molders.

@Erik, Indeed, the history of models in China is not long. In the late 1990s, Matchbox and Bandai established joint venture companies in China and introduced model kit products into the country. Therefore, most model enthusiasts in China are under 40 years old.
And picture 269 is from National Youth Model Championship which is organized by the government. Actually this Shanghai New year model contest also sponsored by the government since year 2006.

The heads look so ultra-realistic, I can hardly believe they were just painted. 😮

@ Mr James Thank you for your Nice words. I hope you also liked that Wicked 😄 The tree is a bonsai that had died, I cut some leaves because they were too big. If I remember correctly, I spread small wood shavings and other natural ones that I had in my vegetation stash on the ground.
Also, I thank the new likes. Apreciated

So to start I preferred a lighter job, although painting horses is not, in my opinion, easy.

@Gorby, Thank you very much my friend, for your motivational words. They are always very important to me.
The horse will still improve, I hope. At least that's what I'll try to do without ruining all the work that has already been done 🤔 😉

@Desert Marlin, I know whar you mean. I've been hesitating about highlights with a soft airbrush of satin black or satin varnish on the most exposed surfaces. I hadn't thought about copper. But yes, it will have to have some shine.
@Ben M, Hahaha. Thank you. Your comment with a triple meaning has made me laugh several times, but in my defense I can tell you that this horse It is known as having the strength of an elephant and bites like a tiger. That's why they nicknamed him tiger elephant. 😄

Damn Rui! That was truly a masterpiece! Its times like this I wish there was a tech to capture a 3D photo of this so we can turn it around and admire every detail put into the diorama! The hours riding messenger, the tank crewman, the various munitions, even the foliage on the realistic tree barks - all done to perfection detail! I cannot thank you enough for sharing this with us - truly a joy to watch!

Wonderful diorama Rui. The tree is a real eye catcher too. 👍
Sorry to hear it's a bonsai that died. I try to grow and train some myself but so far they didn't make it longer than a few years. Was especially sad about a number of oaks I planted, which died after four years.
But yours makes for a great asset in your diorama. So in a way you gave it a new life and it can at least live on there.
Cheers!

@ Mirko Römer, Thank you very much for stoping by and your nice comment. I'm hoping that your grandfather made it out of the Eastern Front hell and glad this dio reminded you of him.
I have a couple books about German cavalry from that time, if you are interested in them send me a PM.
@ Ed, thank you so much for your kind comment. I appreciate it alot.
