Vought Kingfisher
(In the style of "yo momma's so...")
My kit's so old that Humbrol don't even make that paint anymore

My kit's so old... see that bulkhead behind the pilot, part of the starboard fuselage?
... here it is on the port fuselage, but...
... here it *isn't* on the starboard fuselage. Half a bulkhead missing, presumably due to venerable age of the moulds. Bodging with a ton of filler (I'm not so advanced as to have plasticard to hand), will be mostly behind the pilot's seat anyway.
Coming together... always make a mess of the little blokes, but couldn't really do without them given lack of detail inside the cockpit.
Crew about ready, time to start assembling that fuselage if my ersatz bulkhead has dried/set enough.
Struggling with the canopies on this: really don't fit well, going to fill some gaps with filler and ClearFix!
If I get a tune out of this kit it'll be a bloody miracle!
Thomas the Tank Engine style miley face behind the engine for my own amusement.

Home straight, although one of the main float pylons is going to need filler at the fuselage as doesn't really reach...
Also, my port wing float is decidedly on the piss, but leaving that for now until the other two have "set" (and I can take the Blu Tak away!).
Love this era for subject matter, but this one is a battle!

Not my best work, but happy it came out looking vaguely air/seaworthy. Ran an antenna line to the tail from the mast at the fore, and fitted the beaching kit wheels (not my original plan) just to stop it wobbling about forevermore. Canopies look better than they deserved!
Matt finish, and tried to give some leading-edge weathering... couldn't find my chipping coating (workbench move since I last used it), so did it manually with an undercoat and an overcoat.
At least the "Arizona" bit is clear, near the tail. Hmm, got a 1:700 Arizona in the stash, that could be heading to my bench soon...
I always spot a cock-up in photos like these. Lalalala not looking.
Why, yes, I did add ordnance stripes to the little bombs and carefully painted a detonator / arming unit / firing pin on the nose 🙂
Kingfisher now amongst the rest of my Pacific air group.
