Wow, love your build! Looks like you did some work to make it less "toylike." I don't know what F4F model the Monogram kit is supposed to be but it looks like you went with the F4F-3. Super!

Thanks for the king comments guys! I was going for the -3, but it has the -4 pitot tube. I was really just seeing what I could do weathering wise with the stock kit, and a few scratch-built cockpit details added just for practice. I now know what works and doesn't work for me when I build my Eduard kits.

Good stuff. One of the first kits I ever built. Again, nice work Kenneth.

Album info
My last build of 2023 was completed on Christmas day. This was a kit I picked up at a local model show a few years back for $5. It was a real nostalgia build for me because this 1/48 scale Monogram kit was first released in 1961, the year I was born. It has it's share of issues. I realize it's not the most accurate and has been surpassed by newer kits on the market. For me, however, it was a learning experience. From scratch-building a simple cockpit, to painting the pilot figure, to trying oils, chipping and other weathering techniques, I have to say it was the most fun build I completed this year!
