Many Canadian members here will be familiar with the diecast coin banks issued from our iconic Canadian Tire stores. The most recent was for the stores 100 anniversary. The car is sold as a 1928 Ford Model A panel truck. In my opinion this model from Liberty Classics is more like a 1930 in detail but they are a promotional diecast after all. Usually in the spring the left-over models get put on the clearance shelves and I picked up mine for $10 (reg. $39.95) and I see already some folks online trying for $50-$60. After having mine sit on a table for a couple of days I got to thinking how cool it would be to turn it into a speed shop truck. As I wanted to keep the collectable I headed down to Canadian Tire and picked up a second one. With some details added and wheels from the Revell Sox and Martin Hemi 'Cuda kit I came up with this. Canadians old enough to remember the 80s TV commercials will know why I chose "Albert's Speed Shop 🙂
