Band of brothers and Saving private Ryan were filmed at Hatfield airfield in the Uk where twelve different towns were constructed on the large open field, including the towns of Bastogne, Belgium; Eindhoven, Netherlands; and Carentan, France.

As they used several constructions for the different towns, none of these will resemble the "real" buildings. That's one of the many mistakes they made in the serie and movie.

already expectet that... BoB can´t be right compared to the real Carentan.

the funny thing is that I searched for "Cafe de Normandie" and found several buildings next to "my" Cafe, which should all repesent the same faboulous building, of wich I never found a real picture 🙂

I don't think that could be the Cafe de Normandie, from the accounts of the soldiers it was the first encounter at a T junction and they came from the south west. 2-506 did go past the station so it's possible, but it was described as the first engagement. Cafe du Stade seems more plausible.

well... I think I/we lacked time, preperation and possibilities to investigate this properly when we were there (that stop was squeezed in a 3 weeks rail trip across western Europe). Furthermore I´m not really an expert for the whole Normandy thing, and had therefore to go with that what we´re told. So no guarantee on that😉
