Hi Christian,
my grantfather also served in Waggum in the 30 ties. He was observer in a Heeresaufklärungsstaffel. I think he was there to do the observers course. He told that during this time Wolfram von Richthofen was the garrision comander at this time

Hi Christian! You are right. Wolfram von Richthofen was the comander. I have lots of pictures from the early 20th to the late 30th of this airfield. Maybe i will scan thome of them in future. By the way, the name of my grandfather was Ernst Meyerhoff.

@ Es-haq Khosravi: It`s a horten for shure, but no 229. All I know is that this model is a glider, but I´m not shue which type.

Hello Christian, I guess I can help with the type: it seems to be the representation of a Horten H IV, a high end performance research glider.
I was lucky enough to excavate the inheritance of Hans Zübert, former Luftwaffen test pilot for the Horten brothers at the archivs of the Deutsches Museum München. Beneath (a lot other!) flying stuff there are descriptions of test flying that bird.
One has been rebuild and is displayed in D.M. dependance Flugwerft Oberschleißheim. Have a look: [img1]

Definitely German Art Deco...
I remember seeing something strangely similar to that, on a visit to Berlin, it was of an Eagle, fully outstretched wings gliding over a symbol of the Earth just like the one on your example. I wouldn't be surprized if it was by the same artist, the Eagle was not exact, it was smooth like your Aircraft no carved feathers, but you knew it was an Eagle...

@: Steve: I know very few facts about this model, but as long as I`ve seen it, I have always been told that this one was made by the Horten Brothers themselves. I don`t know if it`s true, but i know that Horten gliders were tested at Braunschweig Broitzem / Waggum . I have pics that prove that. Do you have any pics of that "Eagle"? Best regards!

I truthfully cannot remember...
If I took photo's or not, I will however try to find out if I did or not.
It was an exhibition of Art Deco German Furniture, held in the mid to late nineties in the KaDeWe? (I think). As props the exhibition included wood carvings and those famous tiles that were made in Berlin...

That is a very valued and prized model. The Horten Brothers were great aviation pioneers. That has to be worth thousands of Euros.
