I like those welding marks. Can you share how did you make them? I'm also working on a KV-1 right now.

thx, just took a look on your model, it's looking fine.

For the weldmarks, I used two methods:

- I cut small strips of styrene sheet and glue these on their place. With Tamiya ultra thin cement I soften them up and carve them with a knife. To soften the sharp edges, I apply some more cement afterwards to melt the edges.

- Same way as above, but instead of styrene strip I use different sections of streched sprue that are glued next to and above eachother. These are treated the same way, but give a less uniform surface...

The cutting marks are engraved with a sharp knive, by rapidly moving it on a right angle with the border of the plate. The number of passes with the knife define the degree of damage. Afterwards I also use thin cement to soften the sharp edges

Album info

This is a second hand kit, that had allready been begun by the owner. Weldmarks and cutting marks added, some parts are soldered to improve strength
